I am a professional, musically-literate and classically-trained solo guitarist with decades of live performance experience. I perform as a classical guitar soloist with orchestras, and I also play at weddings, memorials, corporate and private parties, church services, grand openings, cocktail hours, and other special events where I typically perform classical, Spanish classical, flamenco, renaissance, and Brazilian music from my fully-memorized instrumental and vocal repertoire. I also play original improvised music in the New Age and slide blues genres and can have a percussionist join me for a livelier rhythmic sound. Hire me today for your special event or regular performance slot!
Carlos was here a half hour before starting time to set up. He started on time - took one short break .
We enjoyed Carlos and his performance and so did all of our guests.
The best review statement would be that he would be our FIRST choice for any future gatherings.
Thank you Carlos!
Response from Carlos Bono:
Hi Michael,
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave me such a nice review! I truly enjoyed meeting you and performing for you and your guests, so please feel welcome to reach out to me for any future events you are organizing where you think I can be of service.
Best wishes,
Carlos
Carlos was not only an extremely talented musician (which many guests commented on), but his gentle, thoughtful presence was a welcome addition to our Memorial for our dear friend who passed at age 92. This was a celebration of life but also a Memorial at our home, and he hit the ambiance perfectly.
His background music with amplified classical guitar was perfect, and his selections matched the feeling and her style wonderfully, though I gave little direction. He is a true musical talent. Guests stopped by to chat with him (in English and French!) and he was gracious and lovely.
I'd recommend Carlos for any range of events. He was easy to work with, very talented, flexible, gracious, and will enhance an event.
Response from Carlos Bono:
Thank you so much for this most thoughtful and positive review Melissa!
It was an honor and a pleasure to assist you in celebrating and memorializing your dear friend's impressive life with my musical artistry. I would be delighted to work with you at future events.
Best wishes,
Carlos
Our Church has hired Carlos Bono as a classical guitarist for weddings, as well as for ceremonial events involving meditative improvised music and background music for percussionists. His impressive memorized repertoire, technical accuracy, musicality, and professionalism as a guitarist have exceeded all of our expectations. We thus highly and unreservedly recommend Carlos to others considering hiring him as a classical guitarist.

Gig Length: 60 - 180 minutes
Languages: English, French, Portuguese, Spanish
Since I am a professional classical guitarist, your audience can expect to hear me expertly play my own guitar arrangements of some of the most exquisite music ever composed that will make your wedding, memorial or other special event especially memorable. I particularly specialize in performing the works of German classical master J.S. Bach, but I also have many popular Spanish classical, flamenco, and renaissance pieces in my memorized repertoire. Furthermore, I can expertly perform Brazilian standards arranged for classical guitar, as well as a selection of traditional Spanish language favorites. Finally, if your audience appreciates original music, I play live-improvised classical guitar music in the blues slide genre that can appeal to bar and lounge audiences, as well as in the New Age genre that is especially suitable as background music for conversation, meditation or ceremonies. Kindly note that for a multi-hour gig, I typically play live for 45 minutes and then play recorded music of me playing for 15 minutes while I rest my hands.
From a young age growing up in Chicago and Mexico City, I knew I wanted to become a professional classical guitarist, so I worked hard to develop my technique and an extensive performance repertoire. I was privately tutored on classical guitar in Mexico City before traveling to Europe to study music theory and perfect my classical guitar techniques at the famed musical conservatories in Madrid and Paris. I then learned electronic, traditional Brazilian and improvisational music in San Francisco.
I have now spent decades refining my technically clear sound and classical guitar playing style while impressing those I work with and teach with my effective approach to sharing my musical skills. During that time, I have also made a reputable name for myself as a top guitarist in the competitive world of classical music.
Over the years, I have shared my remarkable mastery of the classical guitar in venues ranging from symphonic concert halls to festival stages all over the country, as well as with my guitar students. I regularly play at special occasions like weddings and memorials, as well as at more intimate local venues like wineries, tasting rooms, restaurants, farmers' markets, lounges, bars and cafes.
If you want to learn more about about my musical background and listen to the magical guitar music I play, please feel free to contact me through this site where you can listen to some audio samples and watch one of my symphonic performance videos. You will see that I offer a range of accessible classical guitar-related performance services for different events, needs and occasions, so please get in touch with me today for more information and to secure a booking for your regular performance spot or special event!
I will bring all the amplification, other sound equipment and lighting necessary for my performance, but I do require a nearby 120 V power outlet to plug it into or an extension cord to one. Also, the temperature of the location where I am to play should be comfortably between 65 and 90 degrees F and suitably protected from the elements such as hot sun, snow, rain and wind.
