Most of my experience as a soloist has been in a church setting. I am comfortable singing in full view of my audience, and as a voice concealed in the background. I am comfortable with or without accompaniment as well as with or without a microphone. You can expect me to be well-rehearsed with your chosen music, yet open to direction and willing to make adjustments based on your preferences. I am more than happy to suggest repertoire.
Hi, I’m Celia Nykol, and I am a blossoming artist in the Chicago area.
Singing is my vocation, and it is my joy to share my passion for music within my community.
The spirit of music lives through me. My soul’s purpose is to capture and embody that truth, and to invite others to play in its magic.
I received a certification of Higher Education with Merit in Performance from Trinity Laban Conservatoire, in Greenwich, London, UK in 2019, and since then, have been furthering my education and experience through virtual workshops, masterclasses, online courses, and by contributing my voice to several choirs in the area, including the Chicago Master Singers!
My most influential teachers include Gilad Paz, Michelle Arezaga, and Maryn Azoff.
I have been blessed to work with conductors John C. Hughes of the Chicago Master Singers, as well as Greg Gilpin and Christopher Aspaas of the Honors Performance Series, where I sang as part of the High School program in 2018, and Young Adult program in 2023, both performances taking place at the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia.
Although I am a classically trained musician, and a majority of my performances feature classical and sacred music, my love for performance spans across all genres! I have a special affection for Jazz and Blues vocal styles, as well as some good old-fashioned Musical Theater!
Currently, I am creating performance opportunities for myself and others by building concerts from the ground up! I find great satisfaction and fulfillment by taking on every role; Director, Manager, Coordinator, Talent. Right now, I am conceptualizing my vision for the year, which is to create and host four seasonal classical recitals, several contemporary summer concerts alongside singer/songwriter Damsel., as well as a production of Grey Gardens starring local actress Briana Livesay.
I am here to create impactful musical experiences. Experiences that invite us to connect more deeply with spirit, the spirit of music, and to our own souls. Experiences of comfort, joy, inspiration, and connection to the unseen world. Experiences that remind us that life can be easeful, playful, and full of unconventional beauty. Experiences that create opportunities for insight, and initiate real change.
When I sing for an event, I'm not just there to provide music, I am there to create a meaningful, transformative experience for every person in that room.
I am offering my service as a solo vocalist. If you are in need of additional accompaniment such as a pianist, you will need to make arrangements with an additional musician.
