I typically play a 35–40-minute sets and take small 10–15-minute breaks if I am playing several hours. For short gigs that are an hour long, I can play straight through. For a 2-hour gig, I would probably take a couple of breaks. I enjoy audience participation and have been known to do a few "sing a long's". I like to give a little background history of some of the songs I play and for the Celtic music I usually incorporate the history of the songs and also tell a little bit about Celtic culture. There may be some poetry readings as well. I have a few interesting family stories about my family's Celtic history as well.
Hello! Céad Míle Fáilte (A Hundred Thousand Welcomes in Irish) I have been playing acoustic music for 30 years. My experience includes country music bands, church music, parties, pubs, and small concerts. I play a variety of music: folk music from 60's and 70's, 70's pop music, and Irish and Scottish music. I also play some Scandinavian music. Irish and Scottish music includes old traditional songs as well as more contemporary. Some examples of what I play are:
Carrickfergus, Danny Boy, The foggy dew, Early one morning, My Lagan Love, The Irish Rover, Loch Lomond, Mairi's Wedding, My own native land, Paddy's green shamrock shore, Siuil a Run, Zombie, and more.
I sing and play acoustic guitar. I can also play mandolin, bodhran (Irish drum), and am working on the harp. I have equipment to amplify for small indoor and outdoor venues.
I have amplification but would like to make sure the venue is well lit so I can see my music. I also would need a chair.

I grew up listening to 60's and 70's pop, rock, and easy listening music. Folk music has been a big influence for me, and I lean towards soft ballads.
My main request is that there is plenty of lighting available when I am playing so I can see my music.
