Cheyney’s Bellydance performances have been described as “full of zest and joyful energy,” as she loves interacting with her audience. Rooted in Egyptian Raqs Sharqi with a dash of #cheyneynigans, Cheyney enjoys creating last memories and is available for private or corporate events, weddings, and restaurant or lounge performances.
We hired Cheyney for a zaffa entrance and brief performance at our wedding reception and I cannot recommend her enough. My family is Egyptian so we absolutely needed the best of the best for a belly dancer, and Cheyney delivered 100%. She was organized, professional, competitively priced and worked seamlessly with me and our wedding planner to execute a truly memorable event that all of our guests are still talking about more than a year later. For professionalism, skill and an all around wonderful person to work with, you cannot go wrong with Cheyney!
Response from Cheyney Teagan:
Thank you so much for your kind words, Lucy! Being a part of your wedding was truly an honor, and I wish you and your husband a blessed marriage! 💖
I have had the privilege of watching Mrs. Teagan perform at a few different venues and every time I am blown away. My favorite thing about the dancer was her love for her art and her ability to get the crowd involved and feel as if they are a part of the performance. By the end of the performance we felt like we knew her.
Response from Cheyney Teagan:
Thank you so much for your kind words, Juan! It was a delight to perform for you! 💕

Cheyney Teagan is an Austin-based performer, musician, teacher, and event producer specializing in Egyptian Raqs Sharqi (bellydance).
Cheyney is known for her technical ability, musicality in dance, and interactions with her audience, and is remembered for being “full of zest and joyous energy.” Community and connections with people are at the heart of her dance practice.
Additionally, Cheyney loves to incorporate props such as Silk Veil, Isis Wings and Silk Fan Veils, as well as balancing props like Shamadan (candelabra), Candle Tray, and pot/jug while completing daring feats of mobility and strength. She has even been known to stand on top of her Doumbek drum to take her performance to the next level!
Cheyney also has a love of Middle Eastern Music, and is fluent in sagaat/zills and Upright Style Frame Drum, so leading a drum circle at your next event is a delight and a joy.
Would you like to be a part of the performance? A quick lesson on Bellydance Basics can get you and your audience up and moving with Cheyney. She'll even provide the iconic hip scarves for your entire party to borrow!
Making events memorable and bringing joy to audiences is Cheyney's goal, so let her craft a unique (or traditional) experience for you!
• To ensure the most smoothest performance for your event, I ask that a separate, lockable room or space be provided for stretching, changing, and storage. I can accommodate you even if this isn't possible, but it is something I need to know ahead of time for planning purposes.
• Both indoor and outdoor performances are possible, with advanced notice.
• I will almost always bring an assistant to aid with sound, props, and security. They are professional, courteous, and there to make sure everything goes smoothly so that you don't have to!

A typical bellydance set for me looks like:
1. Mejanse (Entrance piece, fast-paced)
2. Taqsim (Improvisation with solo instrument, slow-paced and stationary)
3. Baladi or Saidi (Stylized movement to match the appropriate rhythmically-centered piece. Often a Raqs Sharqi classic, unless requested otherwise. Moderately-paced and interactive.)
4. Drum Solo Finale (A fast-paced showcase of isolated muscle movements)
5. Exit (Bow and crowd acknowledgment, then exit. Music will fade and track will end on its own.)
Naima Akef, Taheyya Kariokka, Fifi Abdou, Dina, Badia Masabni
I aim to be self-sufficient, and can perform in most locations.
