If you are looking to hire me for an event, I would be best suited to a cocktail hour with a more mellow performance with the purposes of background music. I can create a great ambiance for the background where people would hear familiar or feel good music while conversing in a situation where you want a more personal touch, versus a DJ playing music.
If you are looking for a saxophone instructor, I am happy to work with you if you fit within the spectrum of beginner to experienced. I will work with the student on producing a great sound on the saxophone while also working through a curriculum of properly paced technical skill building exercises based on your goals and how you are progressing. My aim is to challenge you, but also make sure playing saxophone is something that remains a fun activity in your life for your life. I believe that studying music can get you through the best and worst times in life and if you can find and build the love of playing saxophone, it can truly bring you a lot of happiness.
I am from Chicagoland. Born in Palatine, IL and started my music journey studying saxophone under Mario Mongello in 4th grade. He helped me find and begin to hone my love and passion for jazz saxophone. Through high school I continued my sax studies under Shawn Costantino who pushed my playing even further. I went to college at Northern Illinois University where my music studies continued.
I spent the first part of my career after college teaching and playing jazz/rock gigs in the evenings along with playing pit in many community Broadway productions (Joseph, Bye Bye Birdie, Phantom of the Opera.....etc).
I eventually made my way in to three regular groups while still teaching saxophone lessons. Quest (a Queen, Elton John, and Supertramp tribute band), Vintage Swing Band (a jazz big band focusing on 20's-40's jazz), and Spectral Flextet (a jazz improvisation group focused on jazz standards and original jazz written by its members).
I spend an equal amount of time on large and small stages and feel comfortable equally in either situation. It has been a very rewarding life so far. All I can say is that I love playing music with and for the world. Hopefully I can help make your day better by working with you soon!
This all applies for both saxophone lessons or if you would hire me to play for an event/party.
I have everything I would need to perform besides a stage and lighting.
I can't imagine that you would need to bring either of those for private or group saxophone lessons. In that case I would meet you at a location you prefer and we would conduct lessons.
If you are looking to hire me for an event/party, I have everything needed for sound. I would just need a minimum of a 8 foot by 8 foot square to setup.
