If you come to see me you see fun self deprecating humor about being a stay at home mom and how thankless it is. She gives advice on marriage, sex and how to deal with the standards placed on women. Felicia is professional, organized with a can do attitude aiming to please.
Taking a cue from her professional role model Joan Rivers—with a dash of Phyllis Diller’s “Second Act” story arc—Felicia Madison offers an irreverent take on the topics she knows best: marriage, motherhood, sex, and the impossible standards of beauty faced by women everywhere.
It was not until her children were “old enough not to care” that Felicia began to pursue comedy seriously, beginning with a class at the Manhattan Comedy School. Soon after, she launched Laughing Affairs, which produces comedy events for gatherings such as birthdays, showers, corporate functions, and fundraisers. Among these are her monthly Laughercise events. Laughercise’s times and locations are perfect for comedy fans seeking laughs outside of the traditional late night, male-dominated clubs, offering guests a mid-day one course meal as comedians take to the stage. In addition, Felicia is the new talent director at West Side Comedy Club where she curates and cultivates comedians through her F Comedy program in addition to producing private, corporate and charity events at West Side.
Like many an adoptive New Yorker, Felicia hails from suburban New Jersey, where she enjoyed a comfortable childhood. “Growing up, I felt like the poorest girl in my neighborhood… So I studied, went to a good college and succeeded the old fashioned way—I married my boss. Now I live on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and still feel like the poorest girl in the neighborhood.” she jokes, channeling the self-depreciating humor that defines her popular stand-up sets.
At the behest of her parents—who were eager for their children to pursue stable careers, such as medicine—she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Biological Basis of Behavior and a Marketing minor. After college, marriage and motherhood followed; the family settled in New York’s tony Upper East Side.
Today, Felicia blogs, produces a podcast MT Nesters has a one woman show The Miserable Mrs. Madison which was a result of her sitcom based loosely on her own experiences being ousted by the launch of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. “This is what happens when you don’t support your kids’ dreams,” jokes Madison. “They turn 50 and become stand-up comedians.”
Felicia can provide a 4x4 stage, lighting and audio equipment which is what is required for her performance.
Joan Rivers, Jerry Seinfeld and more recently Ally Wong.
