Crooner James Fontayne performs a selection of popular hits from such great artists as Engelbert, Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, and Tony Bennett. While romantic ballads are his forte, James also performs 60s-70s-80s music across a wide variety of genres. Perfect for birthday parties, anniversary parties, holiday parties, concerts, weddings, country clubs, assisted living facilities, and resorts. James is available as a solo performer, or with accompanying musicians, depending on your entertainment and budget needs.
I had James come to my facility as a last minute replacement for a show. James knocked it out of the ball park. Not only was he able to cater to my specific requests (I asked for crooner songs specifically from Italian singers), but he put together a very entertaining show singing songs, telling jokes, and interacting with the audience. I would highly recommend him for your event.
On March 6th Mr. Fontayne did a 65th wedding anniversary party performance for my parents. He went above and beyond what was expected. He wore a tuxedo and allowed me to choose the songs from his playlist that I thought my parents would most enjoy. My parents favorite song, Let Me Call You Sweetheart was not on his list. He went out of his way to find music for the song and the words. He learned the words to the song and performed it as a special tribute to my parents. My dad got carried away and got the microphone from Mr. Fontayne and sang the last verse to my mom, very special. Mr. fontayne is very easy to work with, plays to his audience and is genuinely interested in everyone having a good time. A great time for everyone! James is great at interacting with his audience, engaging them with storytelling, humor, and of course, great music. An ability to make everyone feel like they are a part of the show is what makes his performances special.
Music has always been a passion for James, and he learned to play the trumpet and trombone at a young age, but somehow never discovered his talent for singing until later in life. During the course of a fateful evening singing karaoke with friends, James was encouraged by the "KJ" to try a new song...none other than "Release Me", the song that launched Engelbert Humperdinck's career. Realizing he had an abillity to sing some of the great crooner songs of our time, James spent countless hours honing his singing skills, with the goal of performing in public. Combining his true showman skills and keen sense of humor with his rich vocals has been a winning formula at many parties, shows, and weddings.
Sound system (including setup/break down) for smaller venues will be provided by performer, utilizing a state of the art Bose sound system. Venue must provide sound system, sound engineer, lighting, etc for larger scale performances (over 500 people). Specific rider requirements to be discussed during contract negotiation.

I have many musical influences as there are too many great singers to list here, but if I had to pick one that I personally try to channel as a performer, it would have to be the "King of Romance" himself, the incomparable Engelbert Humperdinck.
For smaller shows, I can setup all equipment without assistance. For larger shows or venues with an in-house audio system, a sound engineer will be required.
