Dan was absolutely great, playing a range of songs from holiday to classical. Our family had a great, relaxing party, with his palying so beautifully being the highlight. Flawless guitar playing and very friendly. Thank You!
Dan was wonderful to work with. He was easy to communicate with, and always thoughtful in his responses. We were very excited to have him play at our daughter’s outdoor wedding reception. Unfortunately, the combination of Covid restrictions AND wet weather resulted in a last minute decision to move our few guests into an outdoor screened porch with limited space. As a result, we had to cancel Dan’s performance. It was disappointing, but we were happy to have discovered Dan and GigSalad for future gatherings.
Dan is amazing and we call him each year to play at our company holiday party. From the initial contact until the last note is played, he is professional, dependable and personable. He listened to what we'd like and plays a large range of songs from classics to holiday to contemporary music. It is the perfect volume for our small room with a large group of people, and the feedback from our group is always very positive. Dan is a fabulous, talented guitarist and he is a pleasure to work with. We've used his services for three years in a row and look forward to continuing our partnership. Highly recommended!!!
Response from Dan Kyzer - Professional Guitarist:
Brennan,
Thanks so much for your kind words and continued support! It has been such a pleasure playing for you and your colleagues.

I hired Dan for our Showroom Grand Opening event, which was Italian themed. He showed up early for set up, dressed very professional, and communicated very professionally. His skill level and variety of music was outstanding, and I received several compliments from our party guests in regards to his music. It was the perfect touch to the evening, and just subtle enough for ambiance music in the background. We will definitely use him again for events in the future, and will pass his name along! Highly recommend.

DR. Dan Kyzer brings soulful emotion and unique insight to the classical guitar and its repertoire. As
a soloist, Dan prides himself on giving audiences across the US an experience that is both
introspective and uplifting. Dan’s roots are in the bluegrass and blues music he played as a teen in
Jackson, MS, but upon discovering the classical guitar as a high school senior, Dan began studying
the classical guitar at Hinds Community College with Dr. John Ingwerson. After finishing his
undergraduate work at the University of Southern Mississippi, Dan earned a scholarship to the New
England Conservatory in Boston, MA where he studied with the world-renowned guitarist Eliot Fisk,
earning a MM degree with Academic Honors. After completing a Master of Music with Academic
Honors from NEC, Dan moved to Denton, TX where he earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the
University of North Texas under the tutelage of Thomas Johnson. His dissertation, “Beyond
Nothingness: A Broader Nihilism in Cinema Paradiso by Stephen Goss” is a cross-discipline work that
weaves through philosophy, film, and music. Currently, Dan serves on the faculty at the University of
Texas at Tyler and Mountain View College in Dallas.
While in Boston, Dan maintained a studio at the Boston School of Guitar and performed with groups
like the Boston Metro Opera and MIT Women’s Chorus. Dan also played solo concerts at venues like
the Wood’s Hole Library, Boston Public Library, Allston-Brighton UMC, and Williams Hall at NEC. He
interned with the Boston GuitarFest and worked with Guitar and Friends, a non-profit guitar
organization. Dan has played solo recitals and events at some of the most prestigious venues in the
DFW area, including the Dallas Museum of Art, Kimbell Art Museum, Fort Worth Modern Art Museum,
Voertman Hall, Perot Museum, and many others. His collaborations include Fort Worth Opera,
Orpheus Chamber Singers, and UNT University Singers. Dan has served as an adjudicator at the
Lone Star Guitar Festival, Mountain View Guitar Festival, and Collin College Guitar Competition.
Recent performances include solo recitals at the New Orleans International Guitar Festival, Oklahoma
City University, Louisiana Tech, the University of Southern Mississippi, and solo and ensemble
performances with the Allegro Guitar Series.
Dan also holds top prizes from the New Orleans International Guitar Festival, Southern Guitar
Festival, and Mississippi Guitar Festival, and prizes from the Texas International Guitar Competition,
Lone Star Guitar Festival Competition, and the Sierra Nevada Guitar Festival Competition. Dan was
selected as a Finalist in the Sharon Lynn Wilson Center Competition and as a semi-finalist in the
Columbus Guitar Symposium. Dan lives in Corinth, TX with his wife Abigail Chaplin-Kyzer, an
accomplished piano teacher, musicologist, and performer. Their latest collaboration is the Concerto in
D Major by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. Dan plays a 2019 Aaron Ringo guitar made in Weatherford, TX.
A single standard electrical outlet is required for all performances indoor and outdoor. For indoor performances, I use my 2019 Aaron Ringo concert classical guitar. For outdoor performances or performances and some indoor performances requiring more volume, I use a Cordoba guitar with a Fishman pickup. I use a Fishman A330 sound system at all performances.
