I’m a licensed massage therapist and the resident massage therapist for weekly visits at three well-known theaters for the actors, musicians, and crew.
I do chair massage in the summers at local and larger music festivals for patrons, musicians, and staff.
I also travel to weddings, corporate offices, retreat centers, and ladies' private events.
At events and weddings, I’ll be the first one on the dance floor in front of the stage and the last one to leave it. My dance style is a more meditative flow kind of belly dance that encourages people to come join in the fun rather than performance art.
Being the first one on the dance floor empowers other people to come shake it down with me.
It's been an absolute pleasure to know & work with Emily for 3+ years. Not only is she a phenomenal masseuse but also a kind & unique human.
I work with The Nonessentials charity group. During our charity events she donates her time giving chair massages and everyone loves her.
I also have gotten several massages from her at Zen Loft in Aurora and have gotten other humans massages as gifts and everyone is amazed by how great she is. I grew up with a mom that did massages and know how hard it is to be consistently constant... I've received many massages from hundreds of professional massage therapists and Emily is by far the best...
I hired Hippy Chick to come and give chair massages to myself and bandmates. As musicians it is very important we stay is loose as possible before we go on stage. My personal experience was amazing. Before the show I was experiencing horrible neck pain. After 30 minutes in the chair I was able to be pain-free before I entered the stage. I highly recommend her services.
For the last few years we have featured chair massages by Dancing Hippie Chick at our festivals. This has been a big hit, not just with the attendees, but with our staff as well. I couldn't be happier with this service.
I had the absolute pleasure of hiring Dancing Hippie Chick for event chair massage services, and I couldn't be happier with the experience! The massage was incredibly relaxing and rejuvenating, and she brought a wonderful energy to the event. Her professionalism, skill, and warmth made everyone feel at ease. The guests loved her, and we received so many compliments on the addition of her services. If you're looking for a unique and wonderful way to treat your guests, or add to your event, look no further! Dancing Hippie Chick is the perfect choice.

CHAIR MASSAGE & MEDITATIVE DANCING COMBO
This option is best for WEDDINGS and MUSIC FESTIVALS.
** Arrival **
I'll arrive on time, park where instructed, and check-in with my contact.
I'll set up in my spot (about 15 minutes to set up), and await instructions. If there's a sign up list, I'll review that.
If I'm at a music festival taking walk-ups, I'll walk around before the start of the event and introduce myself to the staff and other vendors. I'll invite them over when they have a break, encouraging them to send their customers and other vendors my way. This is a great way to generate a buzz and more business later.
** During the Event **
At weddings and festivals, guests who walk-up for chair massages will be greeted warmly and shown how to sit down in the chair. I'll ask them where they'd like me to focus--shoulders, neck, upper back, lower back. I then set my silent timer so that other guests can see how many minutes I have left. That way, they know how long until they should come back. After I finish with each guest, I help them out of the chair, thank them kindly, and ask them to go find the next person (if there's a sign-up sheet). Then, I wipe down the massage chair, change out the disposable face cradle, and await my next client.
If I don't have anyone next, I will put up my "Be back soon!" sign and go use the loo and dance. This is a great way to meet the other attendees, network, make connections, and let people get a chance to see me in a normal setting. Most people will not get a massage from someone they don't trust. When I'm out and about, mixing and mingling, people get to know me and establish a good rapport. Then, when they see me standing by my chair, they know I'm a safe person to get a massage from.
If there are bands that need more dancers, someone will alert me, and I'll go get the dancing started there. Sometimes people just need one person to start dancing and everyone will join in. I love being that first person! Then when everyone’s up and moving and grooving, I can slip away and head back to my massage chair.
People also come tap me while I’m dancing and ask for a chair massage. No problem!
Just send me wherever I’m needed!
This is why for the combo-types of events, it’s not always a good idea to have a signup sheet. That way, I can leave at anytime. But if the event is structured where there’s a set time for massages, I’m happy to work for 2-hour stretches before I’ll need a break.
For festivals where I'll be there all day, people can just come back for a massage when I've returned if I leave to go dance. Often, people will recognize me from the massage booth and come up and dance with me. It’s great for cross promotion!
CHAIR MASSAGE ONLY
This option is best for ACTORS, MUSICIANS, or other PERFORMERS, POST-REHERSAL DINNERS OR WEDDING PRE-CEREMONY and CORPORATE EVENTS
** Before the Event **
For chair massage, I bring all the equipment and supplies. I'll arrive on time, park where instructed, unload, check-in with my designated contact, and head to where I'm setting up my chair.
Set up takes me about 15 minutes. I can bring two different chairs: a free-standing chair or a half-sized one that fits on top of a table or desk. The latter requires a regular chair for people to sit in. I'll typically just need another a chair to set my cleaning supplies and face cradle covers on, but I can bring a small folding table instead.
I prefer to be in view of the entrance to draw in the most guests. At a private event, I prefer to be in the main room so that I'm not alone in a separate room.
I wear loose-fitting colorful clothing, or all black if instructed. I typically wear black sneakers or Vibrams. If there is a uniform top for service providers at the hotel or conference center, I can wear that as well.
** During the Event **
I greet clients warmly, guide them to sit in the chair, adjust the chair to fit their height, and ask where they'd like me to focus. I set my timer on my phone or keep track of time from a nearby clock. The phone timer is helpful because other people can see how much time I have left so they can come back when I'm done. When time is up, I help the guest out of the chair if need-be, wipe it down with wet wipes, and change out the disposable face cradle cover. I greet the next person in line or ask the person who just finished to go grab the next person on the list if it's a company event.
** Chair Massage Time Slots **
Typically, guests are walk-ups at a wedding reception or an all-day event or festival.
However, If I'm at a private event or a corporate office, the company typically provides a signup sheet and posts it on the wall where I'll be. Sometimes, a Google Doc signup sheet will go out via email in advance, and the company will signup for a time slot that way. Guests or employees will often move their time slots around the day of or send another person in their place. It doesn't matter to me, since I won't know who is who on the list.
** A note about Sign-up Sheets **
These are a great idea--in theory. Guests will typically not show up on-time (or at all).
In my experience, it is best to have a loosely planned schedule, or send people who *must* get in for a massage early on before everyone notices that I'm there. There is very little time for me to text anyone about a missed time slot, especially if I have a line of people waiting.
** My Asks **
* If there is a sign up sheet, please ask people to take note of their time slot when they sign up, or when they are assigned, and to be on-time. If they arrive late, I can only give them the amount of time I have remaining of their session; otherwise, it throws off the whole schedule. It is best to switch with someone else if they know they are going to be late.
* Please let guests know that I cannot work on them if they are over-served. This is for everyone's safety and liability.
* Please have someone come check on me from time to time in case there are any issues with guests or logistics.
* I will need a 10 minute break every two hours or so, so please plan that into any signup sheets.
** Events that Run Overtime **
I'm usually very happy to stay longer at an event. After all, I'm already set up and ready to go! The company is welcome to pay me $100 per half hour to stay later if my schedule permits. I'm happy to work on staff, management, roadies, cast, crew, or whomever's life a session would make better.
DANCING HIPPIE CHICK MEDITATIVE DANCE
** Before the Event **
I will arrive during soundcheck or when instructed. I'll meet the band and get a feel for their style. I'll stretch and dance during their first soundcheck songs. I can invite the wives/husbands, girlfriends/SOs to join me if they'd like. If there are tickets sold for a dance class, will teach stretching, warmup, and some simple basic dance moves that are accessible and modify for everyone’s needs. The idea is to get everyone moving and grooving, loosened and warmed-up to prevent injury and cramping throughout the night. I'm happy to teach belly dance moves informally, like shimmies, hip-bumps, rolls, spins, etc. and how to do them safely.
I can help work the merch table, greet guests, do wristbands and VIP tickets.
** During the Event **
I'll be on the dance floor from the first song until the last shaking it down unless otherwise instructed. My style is to just dance and be myself, and that encourages people to come up and do the same. I think they figure, "At least I won't be the only one out here looking like they're having a blast!" I would never grab people out of their seat--that tends to only create embarrassment and shame. Instead, I'll read the room and gently invite the seat dancers and toe-tappers periodically.
My goal is for everyone to have a good time. I demonstrate how to feel the music, explore movement, and find the groove. This is not necessarily a performance, since everyone is encouraged to come up to the front and dance alongside me. I'm also not teaching anyone anything on the dance floor. Everyone's body moves differently, and my hope is to encourage exuberant joy through dancing at the event.
Partner dancing is fine by me! I won't dance "with" anyone unless it's invited. I'm down for grooving out however guests wish, as long as it's tasteful and platonic. I'm not looking to create an awkward situation if a man is hitting on me and someone's wife or girlfriend gets jealous. It's best to just keep everything neutral and friendly. I would never shame anyone for "booty dancing" -- hey, do your thang! But I'll but doing my own thing instead.
** Safety **
I dance right in front of the stage for a couple reasons: 1. So that it encourages others to come up and dance, and 2. For safety reasons: if drunk people are getting grabby, the band members will be able to see it and flag security.
My goal is to have a sea of sweaty, happy, free-spirited women, and those who respect them, dancing in front of all the stages of the world. That is only possible if women feel safe enough to dance. I hold a safe container for people to let loose and just dance. I will gently body block a predatory person by dancing in between them and their unsuspecting target. Or I'll just dance with them instead to occupy them. My style is peaceful, friendly, and non-confrontational, and my hope is that security is tight enough to swoop in and prevent predatory behavior.
** Attire **
I will typically wear colorful, loose-fitting clothing and scarves. If there is something in particular the venue would like me to wear like a band t-shirt, a t-shirt with their logo, etc., I'm happy to wear that. I wear Vibram toe shoes so that I can move more freely.
I'm fully self-sufficient.
Just tell me where to set up, and I'll be ready in 15 minutes.
If there is a signup sheet, it would be helpful to know who is next, but not necessary if everyone knows their time slot. Otherwise, most guests just walk up and sit down when the chair is next available.
For the meditative dancing, I'll dance to whatever is playing. I don't bring music or a costume. Just point me in the direction of the stage, and I'll dance in front of it or on it if invited by the band.
