Danforth West
- San Jose, CA
- Dance Band
- Travels up to 60 miles
- about $300 to $500 per hour
Overview
Formed at the United States Naval Academy, the band "Danforth" played together there for three years. We have been getting together every five years to play at our reunions since we graduated.
In 2014 three of us located on the west coast decided to start playing gigs as "Danforth West". Now retired from our day jobs, we have fun playing selective gigs in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Danforth West plays an eclectic mix of rock, pop, oldies, dance, country and soul with an emphasis on vocals and harmony. Our goal is to get people dancing and having as much fun as we are having playing for them.

Just heard them perform at a New Years Eve party and they were really great. Usually bands like these have good instrumentals but only so-so vocals. These guys have great vocals and excellent harmony. Really enjoyed listening to them and dancing the night away. I understand we've invited them back for next years party already (which I'm very happy about).

They have performed at a couple of parties I've attended and they have sounded great both times. They are very professional and do a good job of getting people out on the dance floor. A very eclectic selection of music, really something for everyone, and all great songs. The lead singer has a very good voice and the harmonies are outstanding. Really hope I get the chance to hear them again.

About
Formed at the United States Naval Academy, the band "Danforth" played together there for three years. We have been getting together periodically to play at our class reunions since graduation. In 2014 three of us located on the west coast decided to start playing gigs as "Danforth West". Now retired from our day jobs, we play gigs throughout the S.F. Bay Area. Because there are only three of us, we use "backing tracks" to add the missing instruments. Doug arranges all of our music and creates the backing tracks (he plays guitar, keyboards, drums, & wind instruments). The result is a small band with a big sound.
--About the Band Members--
Patrick (Todd) Haney graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1974 and served until 1980. After his departure from the Navy, he entered Federal Service where he held numerous positions with the Department of the Navy in San Francisco and Oakland CA, Philadelphia PA and Washington DC. He retired from the Federal Government in 2007 and returned to California to relax and enjoy life. Pat is our lead vocalist.
Andy Scontras served 20 years as a Navy P-3 Orion pilot before retiring from active duty. He has since been an international airline pilot, having amassed enough flying hours to circle the globe nearly 400 times. He’s qualified to pilot the Boeing 747, 757, and 767 as well as the Airbus 320 and 330. He currently resides with his wife in Honolulu and enjoys writing when not thumping on the bass. He was the 2007 recipient of the Rupert Hughes Award and is writing his second novel. Andy is our bass player.
Doug Bloomquist served on active duty for 14 years after graduation in the Navy Civil Engineer Corps. Subsequently he spent 16 years in a number of engineering and executive management positions at Apple, and another 8 years in executive management at Motorola/Google. Prior to entering the Academy he worked as a music teacher thru Junior and Senior High School teaching accordion, piano, guitar and drums. He is currently retired and living in San Jose, CA. Doug plays rhythm guitar, sings harmony, creates all the arrangements and backing tracks, and handles all of the technical stuff.

Influences & Inspiration
We typically like 60's, 70's & 80's music although we appreciate good music from all decades. We tend to gravitate to music that has an emphasis on the vocals and harmony.
