Danny Mack was voted "The Midwests' Most Versatile" and Nostalgic Entertainer" by Star Readers Poll while he was living in Chicago where he was born and raised. As a youngster he played and sang in his fathers' band the Merri-Macs' and was influenced in those post WWII years by the music of the singing cowboys the likes of: Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Jimmy Wakely, the polka music of the late Frankie Yankovic Americas' Polka King and Columbia Recording artist, and the big bands such as Wayne King, Guy Lombardo, Tommy Dorsey and Glenn (link hidden) later years he was influenced by accordionist Myron Floren and the Lawrence Welk Orchestra particularly due to the professional and wholesome presentations and performances geared towards family enjoyment.
