Overview
I draw live caricatures and/or cartoon portraits for wedding receptions, birthday parties, corporate events, grand openings, etc.
It takes me roughly 5 – 6 minutes to draw a face (head and shoulders), predominately in black and white a little color (for the eyes).
As studio work, I draw graphite pencil and color gift caricatures, as well as graphite pencil portraits (people and pets).

My company booked Dan for an employee Christmas party. He was very professional and simplified the process of scheduling with his expertise. Dan arrived early, got set up and began astounding everybody with his skills. I cannot say enough about the level of professionalism, expertise, and raw skill that Dan brings to the table. My wife and I decided to use Dan’s services as a caricature artist for our wedding. Not only were his services reasonably priced, but all of our guests loved having a special portrait to take home with them. He was way more affordable than a photo booth, and a hundred times more original. Even better, Dan did a portrait of us before our wedding; so we didn’t have to take the time out of our special day to sit down for one ourselves. We are so happy with our decision to hire him, Dan made a great night even better.

Dan was very pleasant and a for sure crowd favorite at our wedding reception. He was very easy to work with and went above and beyond to make sure he did everything we wanted! He drew caricatures at our wedding reception, drew a complementary portrait of us (bride and groom) with our fur babies to hang in our house AND drew a coloring sheet for us to use as a place setting for our guest! Our guest could not stop talking about how awesome the coloring sheet and caricatures were! He is a for sure add to your next party or event!!!

Although I did not get to witness the magic in the works, our wedding guests seemed to really enjoy having Dan there to draw caricatures. I loved that it gave our guests something to do in between the ceremony and reception, and that the pictures can be kept and memorialized forever.

We hired Dan to do caricature portraits for our 10 year old daughter's birthday party this past weekend. He arrived early and still stayed until the arranged time, completing around 20 portraits! He was really good with the girls, setting them at ease and making them giggle while he drew them, and totally captured the essence of each person he drew. We sent the portraits home with the girls as souvenirs, and everyone loved them!

I hired Dan to work at our High School after prom party. From our initial interaction to the final transaction, Dan was a pleasure to work with. He promptly answered email and phone calls. The night of the event he arrived early and stayed late to make sure our students had a chance to get their portraits done. We plan to invite him back next year. He was also instrumental in helping me find and book additional artists. Dan's work is spectacular, he was a definite favorite among the students and parent volunteers.

Dan created caricatures for my daughter's 11th birthday party. The kids loved having their picture created and watching the pictures of their friends come to life. Dan arrived early to set-up and worked efficiently while capturing the essence of each child. Suggestion: Dan provided color for the eyes. Highlighting the hair with color would be my recommended suggestion. Parents loved the artwork as well.

I hired Dan for a surprise 40th birthday for my wife. We had to change the date of the event due to weather and Dan was very accommodating and flexible. What to Expect
My style of caricatures and or cartoon portraits lend more towards likeness and cute as oppose to extreme exaggeration.
While drawing I interact with my customers to provide a humorous atmosphere. I dress professionally and do the drawings from a french easel on white card stock. Clear plastic bags are provided to the customers.
About
I am a freelance artist/caricaturist located just outside of Dayton, Ohio. My business, “Dan’s Portraits and Caricatures”, was established in October 2000.
I attended Nicholls State University in Thibodeaux, Louisiana, as an Applied Arts major for a couple of years but then decided to join the US Air Force and spent the next twenty years in a career field far removed from art. After retirement from the Air Force I moved to Ohio to become a freelance artist/caricaturist.
One of the highlights of my latter career involved being commissioned to draw caricatures of political figures for a deck of playing cards, and drawing the main character in a local commercial.
Some of my customers for live caricatures or studio work include Wright Patterson Credit Union, Wachovia Insurance, GE Money, Mars (M&Ms), Dick Sporting Goods, First Night Columbus, Meijers, Dayton Progress, Xavier University, The University of Dayton, Procter and Gamble, etc.
