Darrell Calvillo

We had an informal St. Paddy's day celebration at work and Darrell was hired as the main attraction--a nice treat for employees, some of whom had never seen bagpipes performed live.
Darrell arrived early and ready to perform (a first for any musician I have worked with).
While we did not have any specified format for the event, the musical selection was varied, and Darrell chose selections that were short and sweet.
I look forward to making this an annual event in the office--with Darrell's help, of course.

Darrell’s performance at my husband’s Celebration of Life was exactly what we had discussed. Darrell was able to play the intro to “Thunderstruck” among other upbeat Irish dance music and that set the mood for the evening. Darrell was excited to make my vision a reality. Darrell is a piping rockstar. He played for my mother’s 90th birthday and we had a Zoom party with relatives from Scotland and Canada on line listening. They LOVED him and said he was fantastic (which he was).

My husband absolutely loves the bagpipes! Darrell made a wonderful contribution to our celebration of his 80th birthday. Although it was just my husband and I, and my daughter and son in law, Darrell treated it with the professionalism of a large concert. He was friendly, knowledgeable and very very talented. We so enjoyed his performance. He also gave us some history, and showed us a little of how the bagpipe work. I can not recommend him highly enough if you need a bagpiper!! It was a perfect afternoon.

Darrell was a complete professional througout our experience. He was very polite and appropriate. He met our family at the event on time and in full regalia. Began playing beautifully for us on the dock waiting for the ship to arrive. He followed the funeral procession down to the boat but could only play at the dock. You would have thought he could have gotten back to his car and left. He continued to play while still docked and stayed until the boat was out of earshot and could barely hear the music. It was like a scene out of a movie!

Couldn’t of asked for a better piper for our special event on St. Patrick’s Day with his music choices and sounds he brought the charm and beauty of Ireland so close to each of us thank you!

Darrell was great. He was prompt, came in playing, respected our wishes. We’d hire him again in a heart beat. We had a little sentimental meltdown when in came in wearing our mom’s family tartan—Forbes. Unknown and unplanned!

My stepdad had few requests for his memorial service, and having the bagpipes played was one of them. Darrell came and played before and after mass, and it was truly incredible and my mom was very happy - she wishes she could give him 10 stars because he was so great. Everyone was very impressed with his playing and crowded around to listen to him. He made the service even better by being there and playing for all of us. When we submitted our requests for quotes, he quickly responded and added a personal touch by calling to speak with us, which is something my stepdad always respected. If you need someone to play the bagpipes for any occasion, he would be your best choice.

We engaged Darrell to play Amazing Grace at the end of my Dad's funeral while he was being brought out of the church. Darrell was excellent. He arrived on time and since we were near the end of the mass, Darrell appeared at the exact moment needed. With my Dad being from Scotland, it was a perfect touch and everyone was very moved.
