My name is Darren Williams Jr. I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and began to play the drums at age 8. Now at 29, my life's ambition is to inspire others through my story of dreaming of being what I am today, a professional musician, by way of playing an instrument that the world has told me that I would not be able to play. Through doing so, my goal is to inspire others, from young people, to musicians, to whom ever will lend an ear, to chase and reach their dreams with reckless abandonment, by telling my story, and using my instrument, as well as my disability.

I give a 3 point talk on how to reach your dreams. As well as opening and closing with 3-5 songs to display my drumming and also for entertainment. During the "talk", there will be time for Q&A as well. I'm a very laid back type of person, and when I speak, I speak in a very laid back manor. Also, I like to make people laugh a bit :)
Darren Williams. A St. Louis Mo native, was born with Cerebral Palsy. A condition affecting the motor function of the legs and arms. After doctors believed that he would not have a chance to walk in his life, he taught himself how to walk at age 2. While attending a school assembly featuring a jazz band at age 8, Darren's eyes and ears locked in on the drums. Later that week, he asked his physical therapist if they thought that he would be able to play the drums. In which naturally they replied, no. At that moment, Darren found his calling in life. To show the world that disabled drumming could be done. Darren's goal in life is to inspire the world with his blend of hip hop, fusion, jazz, gospel, and rock drumming. As well as the message that "If you can dream it, you can do it." Along with a strong support group of friends family, and musicians, these dreams are becoming reality. Darren play but at the moment is not endorsed by Pearl Drums, Zildjian cymbals, Vic Firth sticks, Evans drum heads, Alesis Electronics.
All of the song I play will not have any lyrics. So music can be excepted anywhere from the church, to schools, etc.
