Having been a stage actor and solo musician for 30 years, I know how to connect comfortably with a variety of audiences and make the gathering an event. My selection of songs is appreciated by adult and older crowds and I tailor my selection to each specific group. I want my audience to have fun, so I also perform some songs that they can sing along with on choruses. I'm a self-contained act with accompaniment from a trio that I created--real acoustic instruments, not synthesized sounding, with plenty of syncopation and a breezy jazz quality. I sing, play guitar and harmonicas, and share humorous stories that anyone can appreciate. I bring my own PA equipment and lights if necessary. I always maintain a professional appearance and conduct and I enjoy speaking to audience members.
I came to Florida from Austin, TX, where I fronted the "Genre Benders" as a singer, guitarist, bassist and harmonica player. For the past several years I've been performing as a solo act and as a duo (with a second guitarist) for parties, and theatrical events. I love to perform old songs like As Time Goes By, Route 66 and Minnie the Moocher, plus songs by Ray Charles, Louis Jordan, Nat King Cole and more. I sing blues/jazz, folk, rock and a variety of eclectic styles. Additionally I do comic musical material and have garnered an audience in the Bay area for it.
I perform at clubs and events in the Tampa Bay area and live on WMNF's Friday live music hour. I'm now working on recording my 6th album of original music, including the musical comedy "Little Red" soundtrack. "Little Red" has now been produced 8 times in Texas and surrounding states. My humorous songs have been used frequently on NPR shows as lead in music to news stories as well.
My shows are always fun and designed to draw the audience into the experience. I've been compared to Dan Hicks, Tom Waits, Paul Simon and other great songwriters.
I supply my own PA system for audiences of up to 200 people. I also supply basic lighting if needed. Electrical outlet needed and adequate space to set up equipment.

I've always loved and played songs from classic movies from the 30's to the 60's. Added to that I get influence from a diversity of acts like Cab Calloway, Ray Charles and Mel Torme. And of course, more modern songwriters like Paul Simon, Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks, the Beatles, Willie Nelson and Tom Waits.
