We like to create a relational, fun environment, where people experience the power of music to lift them up. We bring humor, story-telling ala Blues and are intentionally Christian-worldview-based in our content without being a "Christian Band." We are a modern blues-based band bringing rock and jazz into our predominantly original music program. We play in prisons, bars, festivals, private parties, even churches!! We can lead worship and we can get you dancing to swing music - we love it all!
Davey and the Blu Dog put on a great show at our neighborhood concert event. They had a great bluesy groove and played excellent music for 1.5 hours. I highly recommend them.

Gig Length: 60 - 240 minutes
Performance style will range from SRV Texas blues to a little west coast swing, some Delta blues and blues/rock - mostly original material. We can do up to a four hour evening gig. We can bring our own sound with enough umph to cover up to about a 400 person audience, that impacts the cost of having us come out to play. We will supply a stage plot for your tech crew, and value clear communication about gear, load-in, parking and that sort of thing.
We are a front range based five-member band, our instrumentation includes, guitar, keyboards, bass, sax, drums and various hi and low tech extras eg. synthesizers and gas can kick drum. David Michael Boyd, founder and leader of the band recently celebrated 50 years of playing guitar, has performed in over 20 nations, recorded 8 CDs, including one with the band called "Play Your Blues Away." Kirk Hutchinson, keyboard genius, is also a grammy-nominated recording engineer. Drummer, Doug Murphy, sax man Steve Stumbo and multi-talent bassist JL Marsh all bring over twenty years of live performance experience to the stage. We're stylistically and philosophically rooted in blues music because of the cultural meaning of this music and the reality-based nature of the music. Our music is predominantly original material composed by David, but we cover some classic blues tunes and add in some swing, jazz and rock numbers.
We are all followers of Jesus Christ and we try to honor Him in all of our doings, that said we're not out to be a "contemporary Christian band" - we like to play, we like to play loud, have fun, and adapt our program to serve the needs of your event. We've done a range of stuff locally from playing for the homeless in a snowstorm in November in front of the Denver civic center, to gigs in places like Ziggie's, outdoor events in civic events, worship service for a church in Dillon in the amphitheater there, and private backyard parties.
Food is nice if we have to set up over the dinner hour!

We've listened to a wide range of influences, especially in the blues genre. We like the audience connection that guys like Muddy Waters, BB King and many others generate, we strive for an interactive environment. A lot of recent players in jazz, rock and blues all have left an impact: David's heroes growing up were Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix, more recently influences are Robben Ford, Scott Henderson, SRV - all of the other guys have a ton of heroes as well - Kirk has the emotion of Bruce Hornsby under his fingers mixed with a bit of Oscar Peterson - Steve is as fluid on the sax as you will ever hear- he admires Kenny G. Jl and Doug are a rock solid foundation - Donald "Duck" Dunn and St
