David Hudson has 10+ years experience of performing at pubs, weddings, events, touring with national acts, and two contracts out of Australia on P&O Cruises. With such an extensive background, he has honed his ability to be flexible, engaging, & professional.

David was awesome! We asked him to play concert-like music at a local park, with the music geared more toward the adults. The adults really enjoyed him, with multiple people getting his contact info before heading out. What a nice touch to the party. My 7 year old also loves music and asked if he could bring his keyboard to play with David. David happily jammed along with my kid to a few of his favorites and made my kid’s day. David is incredibly talented, super flexible, and had a calming personality. Would absolutely hire him again.

I had been searching for someone to perform at my 60th birthday. When it came across David on this site and checked out his performances that he posted, the decision was easy at that point for me to hire him. David was absolutely amazing! We hired him for my in laws 50 anniversary this last weekend and couldn't have been more happier! We recieved several compliments from the partygoers in attendance. We had hired Hudson to play at my husband's 40th birthday. Hudson was great and made our event so special! All of our guests asked about him. We had sent him a list of songs beforehand just to give him a sense of our vibe, and he really got it. He even thoughtfully learned some of the songs from the list which was a real treat. Hudson is a rare talent and truly made our event one to remember. He was SO good! We hope to see him play again!
My wife's birthday was this past week and with the pandemic still in effect, I wanted to do something for her that would offer a break from reality and of course, be safe. I'd heard Hudson play before and loved his sound so I reached out to see if he would be interested in playing for a small group at our local park. Couldn't have been happier with the outcome, way beyond my expectations. He played an hour long set for a group of 5 at our local park which offered plenty of open space and it was an incredible escape for the evening. All original music with a few requested covers. Everyone loved it, I can't wait for another excuse to hire him again.

It's taken me some time to get to this review because I don't know if I convey into words how awesome Hudson was to work with.
He was accommodating with everything that was requested such as song requests and even a change of date. Even when my fiance showed up earlier he was able to improvise in order to create the perfect moment for us. The vids you see here don't do Hudson justice because he is absolutely amazing live! I was taken back on how great he was, to be honest.

David Hudson is a lover of a wide range of music, and this presents itself through his playing and taste. One of his most impressive skills is seen when performing live for a solo act. Through the use of loop pedals, he is able to sculpt a much larger sound than you'd expect from one musician. Recorded right there in front of you, he layers in percussive parts drummed out on acoustic guitar, both rhythm and lead guitar parts, multiple harmonies, and soaring soundscapes. Close your eyes, and you'd think there was a full band playing.
Anywhere from classic sing-along tunes of the 60's and 70's or modern pops, to jazz standards, to ambient soundscapes that provide background setting, you can expect a completely professional and enjoyable experience.
Originally from Upstate New York, David Hudson is currently between Los Angeles and Austin.
He has been performing in a plethora of ways over the years, from his current solo act Willowspeak, to electro-pop rock groups like Joywave, or even Americana-funk groups like Upstate Rubdown. His primary focus over the past couple years has been song-writing and performing under the moniker "Willowspeak".
David's education background includes a B.S. in Jazz Studies fromt SUNY New Paltz, two degrees from Finger Lakes Community College in Music Recording & Guitar performance.
In 2015 and 2017, David worked on P&O Australia Cruises as the resident singer/guitarist for five month contracts each time. Performing nearly every night for almost half a year has allowed him to truly sharpen his skills as a solo performer and entertainer. Playing to a crowd of thousands every week, from children to elderly and everyone in-between, his specialty has become reading the audience and being able to play something for everyone.
