Desert Rain

.:. Rain Locker, also known as Desert Rain, is a: interdisciplinary artist, production coordinator, workshop facilitator, and creative collaborator based in Phoenix, Arizona.
.:. Rain earned a BFA Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts School of Music, Dance and Theatre, where she polished her movement techniques, specializing in somatic movement, pedagogy, and performative based practices. She has showcased her artistry across the United States performing at events such as Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival in Florida and the Global Eclipse Gathering in Oregon. Rain has created and shared her expressive nature in production with her local desert communities. She has been apart of the production team at The BETA Dance Festival, No Vacancy showcased at the Found:RE Hotel, as well a self-produced interdisciplinary arts event in collaboration with her artistic partner Brandon Trieu entitled, BEDREST, showcased over two evening at the Unexpected Art Gallery. In this production, Rain featured the premiere of her first evening length dance work,

Most recently, Rain has contributed as a collaborator for events such as the 2018 NueBox Open Lab Series, Grey Box Collective’s 2019 Wild Card Series, and the 2019 editions of FORM & Convergence presented at Arcosanti, Arizona. Rain is currently working as a representative of SIE LLC. In the future Rain seeks to expand her network by continuing to travel, train, teach, and present on both nationally and internationally.
.:. When teaching, Rain’s mission statement is to revitalize the dry crevices of our anatomy through embodied expression. Her philosophy is that if we can allow our bodies to flow, then the internal movement will translate into flow of stagnant energy held within. She often hears from people, “I can’t dance,” and Rain’s goal is to create a container that feels spacious and expansive for people to experience their unique expression through somatic movement. In this space, Rain holds that one may connect with their emotional state in a new, profound way. Ultimately, Rain’s mission is to create opportunities for one to optimize their health by integrating their mind-body-soul connection and bringing them in alignment with their highest sense of YES!
