Devin singing 'Impossible/Somos Novios' as his farewell song.
Although he's the 8th Finalist of American Idol Season 12, he's always breathed music.
Growing up listening to various artists, made it easy for him to tap into diverse musical genres such as Pop, R&B, Country & Ballads. It was during his bilingual performance of “Somos Novios/It’s Impossible” where he captured the hearts of America. He'll never forget Randy Jackson's standing ovation, Mariah Carey crying at his departure or Keith Urban stating, "You were born to sing!"
An incredible voice which is equally matched with his immense professionalism. I've had the honor of working with Devin on several occasions. He is a true professional with deep roots in humbleness. His vocals are amazing.
Devin not only has an amazingly expressive and spiritual voice, he also has the same with his on and off stage presence! Devin is so effective as an artist because of his passionate emotional dynamic and lust for all of life's experiences!

Devin Velez, of Colombian and Puerto Rican descent, was born in Chicago, in April of 1994. Long before appearing on and finishing as the #8 Finalist on Season 12 of American Idol, he performed his first solo in a talent show at the age of three (3) years old. At that time, he became the youngest member of the Key to Heaven Choir until he was five (5), and of the Chicago Children’s Choir from ages ten (10) to fifteen (15). His choir conductor, Daniel Wallenberg, says he vividly remembers the audition and it was the best audition he had heard in years. In high school, he was the lead singer of Rickover Naval Academy’s Advanced Jazz Band and had the opportunity to perform the lead role in the musical “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.”
Growing up listening to artists such as Stevie Wonder, Smokie Norful, Josh Groban, Frank Sinatra, Christina Aguilera and Lizandi, made it easy for him to tap into the diverse musical genres required of him in a competition such as Idol. He confidently performed themes such as Pop, R&B, Country and Ballads. It was during his bilingual performance of “Somos Novios/It’s Impossible” by Armando Manzanero/Perry Como that he instantaneously captured the hearts of the judges and fans. From receiving a standing ovation by Randy Jackson to witnessing Mariah Carey cry when he was voted off, it was clear to see that they, too, had become “Devineers”. Devin's rendition has even become the "First Dance" song at many wedding receptions.
After Idol, he was on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “The Kelly and Michael Show,” “Ryan Seacrest Live,” “Entertainment Weekly with Michael Slezak,” and FOX TV News. He went on to perform in the Amercian Idol Live summer tour, which featured 30 domestic cities as well as two (2) in Canada.
Devin still lives and breathes music. He continues to succeed in his career by working on his debut album and continually performing at various events. In the words of Keith Urban, a distinguished musician and American Idol judge, Devin was definitely “born to sing!”
Prefer to use 'In-Ear' monitors for larger events. We can provide a Transmitter/Recevier if needed. (Nady E03 ChannelEE)
