Didge Project is a didgeridoo performance agency based in New York City. Our services include high-energy live performances, didgeridoo classes, and make and play didgeridoo workshops. We also lead Sound Meditation events with our group "Dream Seed: A Shamanic Sound Journey".
I wasn't sure what to expect since this is the first time I had the opportunity to bring in a Didgeridoo player. He was great. The students loved it and they were so intrigued. They really love the beat boxing. I am so pleased and will be using this site more often. I also hope to have him back next year.
We hired Matt to come and play at our elementary school's assemblies in celebration of International Week. He was incredible! Told the kids all about the didgeridoo and how to play it, and then led them in a guided meditation with it. They embraced that with great enthusiasm, and got a lot out of it. Matt was polite, professional and on time. A pleasure to deal with. We'd highly recommend!
After a successful outdoor performance several years ago by a duo from Didge Project for our world cultures summer series (Music Beyond Borders), I booked Didge Project as one of the performing ensembles for First Night Morris County, Dec. 31, 2015. They were a delight. AJ Block brought a quartet including himself on didgeridoo, along with flute, drum and keyboard. The audiences were very enthusiastic and enjoyed the unique sonorities of the ensemble. They were also intrigued by the didgeridoo itself. Block was easy to work with, professional, cooperative and priced very reasonably (always a consideration when dealing with nonprofit arts budgets!). Didge Project provides a distinctive and unique aural experience for audiences interested in exploring sounds from around the world
I recently had the great honor of having the members of Dreem Seed come to share their work with our community at A Common Ground in Danbury, Connecticut. Before asking to arrange this event, I was able to experience the work of this group at another venue. While I fell in love with the journey, and feeling brought about by the incredible sound bath experience, I was not sure that we had an audience for it in Danbury, Connecticut. I was wrong. Because of the profound experience I had with Dream Seed, I was able to speak passionately about the event and it sold out quickly. It was exciting to see a large group of people from incredibly diverse backgrounds come together to experience this work. What was even more exciting was the change in energy in the room by the end of the event. The participants stayed for a while after the event just to continue to be in each other's presence and soak in the healing that had taken place. The grounded, compassionate and intuitive nature of the members of Dream Seed immediately creates and holds a space of support and kindness for this multi-sensory journey. They share their work and talent with passion and sincerity. I was thrilled with the feedback I received from our participants, many of them asking how this could become a weekly event. It would be difficult to describe the journey created by Dream Seed as I am sure it is experienced differently by everyone involved. What I strongly suggest is to find out where Dream Seed has upcoming events. Going to experience their work is a gift you will not regret giving yourself.
What a wonderful group to host at our space. We've had them perform a number of times over the past year and they never disappoint. Across the board quality professionalism and talent. I wouldn't miss the opportunity to sponsor their group when they tour back through our area.

Our solo didgeridoo performance most often features AJ Block on didgeridoo accompanying himself with electronic loops and drum beats to keep the music upbeat and interesting. AJ additionally plays guitar, keyboards and/or djembe upon request.
Our full band ensemble, The Didge Project Music Collective, is a 4 piece ensemble featuring AJ Block on didgeridoo along with a flute player, a keyboard player and a drummer.
Our learn-to-play didgeridoo workshops are one of our most popular services. Great for kids and families, participants make their own instrument, learn how to play it, and take it home with them to share. Photos available upon request.
AJ Block is the director of Didge Project and is active as a didgeridoo performer based in New York City. His versatility as a musician has brought him into numerous performance settings, including dance music, cocktail parties, corporate events and sound meditations. In addition to didgeridoo, AJ has spent years studying music traditions from all over the world including jazz (trombone and piano), western classical music, Indian Classical Music, guitar and world percussion. AJ brings all of these influences into unique solo and group performance settings. Recent performances include: Highline Ballroom with Daybreaker (early morning dance party, 2015/2016), Museum of Natural History, NYC (2014), AFAR Magazine Launch Party (2012), and an ongoing collaboration with Dream Seed: A Shamanic Sound Journey.
We prefer to play amplified if outdoors or in large venues. For intimate venues amplification may not be necessary. For cocktail parties, or any event where attendees will be socializing, amplification will be necessary.
