Born and raised in Virginia Beach, VA, a small military and resort town, DJ Mic Check grew up in a melting pot of cultures and experiences. With those experiences came a diverse exposure to various lifestyles, food, and music. Artists such as Teddy Riley, Missy Elliot, Timbaland, and Pharrell leveraged influences from jazz, go-go, southern bass, funk, and countless other genres to engineer a very distinct sound within their music. That very same genre-bending approach to music creation that these artists display serves as a creative base for DJ Mic Check’s mixes—fun, upbeat, and sonically inclusive.

As a lifelong learner, DJ Mic Check draws an immense amount of inspiration from other DJs and producers like DJ Jazzy Jeff, 9th Wonder, A-Trak, Kaytranda, Timbaland, Pharrell, and Joe Kay.

DJ Mic Check is committed to providing a fun and memorable experience for each individual that hears him play, but his ultimate motto for success has been: “If the women are dancing, then we’ll all have a great night.”
