Dr. Nicholas Cooper-Lewter (Dr. Nick) is known as the Soul Whisperer. Cooper-Lewter’s speaking and teaching abilities have been honored with a number of awards, including the Teaching Excellence “Teacher of the Year” award and the Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition, Washington, D.C. He is especially recognized for his ability to motivate and inspire others through his personal story of adoption and overcoming childhood abuse. In his practice of Soul Therapy, he helps people eliminate “Inceptional Wretchedness” and “Acceptance Addiction” by identifying the power and influence of the “Who is the Who in Who We Are.”
As a student under Dr. Cooper-Lewter I was provided an insightful and in-depth look into clinical practice and was provided with a wealth of study materials that proved helpful in testing for the MSW Licensure exam. I passed it the FIRST time I took it, using materials from his class!
I attended Dr. Nick's "Overcoming the Odds and beyond" class during my study year abroad in South Carolina. The content of the class was far different from what I expected but it was above all surprisingly interesting. I was eager to attend every class as I knew that I was going to learn something new every time. Dr. Nick is a very inspiring teacher who gave me motivation to accomplish my goals. He is also keen to learn from his students and never misses an opportunity to learn and grow.
Dr. Nick is insightful and has positivity impacted many lives. Dr. Nick has over come many odds and displays high-character. He is an efficient public speaker with powerful life messages for all audiences. He helped me with developing a mental edge while being a Collegiate Athlete and helped me overcome challenges.
Dr. Nicholas Cooper-Lewter is truly a unique individual. He has a unique set of skills that enables him to create rapport quickly with his clients and he builds a deep level of sincere trust that allows those clients to share openly with him. After getting to the "soul" of his clients, he is able to then help them process through various layers to get them to become their best self. Doc is a special person who truly makes a positive difference in the lives of those he works with.
When Dr. Nick speaks, you listen. His wisdom is priceless. After hearing him speak, I was motivated to take on the world. My entire mindset changed...thanks.

Honoring his African, Native American and European ancestry Dr. Cooper-Lewter recommends recapturing the ancient healing folk/spiritual values and practices of “Soul Therapy.”
Throughout his four-decade career as a licensed psychotherapist, life coach, mental trainer, optimum performance professional and sports psychology expert, Dr. Cooper-Lewter has served as a senior pastor, tenured full professor, visiting full professor, distinguished lecturer, chaplain resource (mentor), workshop facilitator, and a motivational speaker. Katrina National Justice Commission and as a consultant; he has worked with universities, seminaries, churches, agencies, foundations, and institutes around the world. Dr. Cooper-Lewter is called the “Inmate Whisperer” by Capital Trial Attorneys because of his ability to facilitate inmates sharing difficult psychosocial histories. In 2012, he was chosen to be on the cover of the Carolinian magazine, which was the inaugural issue of the University of South Carolina’s “No Limits” branding effort. The Carolinian’s featured story gave him a new nickname: the “Soul Whisperer."
