Say Yes! Foundation is a community-based non-profit, 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization which was formed to rebuild our communities to make our neighborhoods safer places to live.
Say Yes! To Drug-Free Neighborhoods" positive message was created by Michael Jordan an Oakland, California native who has taken to training the communities about the dangers of drugs and violence. The "SAY YES!" cause was born in 1994 while Mr. Jordan was sentenced by the courts to a long term treatment center in Fresno, Ca. (2 year program). His turn to contribute to society came when he decided to give back to the community. He began positively using the trade that almost ruined his life: Fighting Drugs and helping others in the community to identify the dangers they pose. Mr. Jordan continues promoting safer neighborhoods with the latest Project "Drug Identification & What you NEED to know about drugs.
"Born in 1951 in Oakland, CA, I grew up on a very tough side of town (East Oakland) that forces you to fight your way through school and in order to be accepted you had to hang out with the "Cool" crowds that smoked a lot of Marijuana and did other drugs. I was an "A & B" student all the way up to 10th grade, when I started getting failing grades due to drug use. Mainly interested in subjects of Salesmanship, Marketing and Retailing classes, I barely passed and went on and graduated. Out of high school, still struggling with drugs, I started committing crimes in order to support my habit. In and out of jails throughout California, I settled in Fresno, CA (1993) which was my last stop. Arrested for "White Collar Crimes" as it was called, the Fresno Courts gave me an alternative, which was to go to prison for 3 years, or to a long-term Drug Treatment facility in Fresno and successfully complete the program with no violations. I chose the latter. I was accepted to "Focus to Life Program" a long term Substance Abuse program, which I successfully completed in 1996. Fresno, CA, has played a big part in my renewed life and lifestyle. Today, I enjoy working in the communities helping others in preventing the dangers of drug abuse and addiction."
In addition to the Drug Identification and What you NEED to know about drugs training, Michael has also developed a series of classes and workshops for children, youth, and adults, focused on the area of bullying--physical, emotional, and internet violence/awareness/prevention. These age appropriate classes/workshops focus on awareness and prevention of physical, emotional, and internet bullying, as well as effective methods of addressing active examples of bullying, and steps for minimizing the trauma experienced by both the victims and the bullies.
