dylan was absolutely amazing for our outdoor wedding. he really made our day so special and beautiful. through just a few emails he was able to completely understand what we're looking for that day.. even learning the very song i was proposed to with so.. he was amazing. would absolutely recommend.
Response from Dylan Charles:
Thanks so much Elliana! It was an honor and a pleasure to play for your beautiful ceremony. All the best to you both.
Dylan was great. Showed up early and was very professional. Played just the type of music that we were looking for and even learned the one song that we requested.
We hired Dylan to play for the ceremony and cocktail hour of our wedding and couldn't have been happier with the experience. Listened well to what type of music we were looking for (as we were oddly specific, lol) and curated the perfect collection of music for our special day. Would have hired him for his guitar skills alone, but the fact that he is a strong and smart singer too just added to the whole experience. Couple that with the fact that he's a nice guy, you can't go wrong with Dylan!
Dylan was such a great fit for our wedding! He took two songs we absolutely had to have and arranged them perfectly for acoustic guitar. He also adapted to the beach very well...everything sounded amazing despite the wind and crashing waves. Highly recommend Dylan, he's the best!
My husband and I hired Dylan to play at our beach wedding ceremony in September 2015 and he was awesome. We had several odd requests and changed our minds about what songs to use, and through it all, Dylan was flexible and game for everything we threw his way. Dylan played guitar and sang during the beginning of the ceremony and his version of 'Do You Realize' by the Flaming Lips was so sweetly perfect. His musicianship is truly astounding. Even on that vast and windy beach, he was able to create a wonderfully vulnerable and intimate moment with just his voice and guitar. On top of all that, on the day before our wedding, Dylan surprised us with an impromptu performance of one of the songs we thought about using (but ended up nixing) for the ceremony. Hearing 'Si tu vois ma mere' while sitting beside my soon-to-be husband is a moment I will never forget, especially because that song holds such dear memories for us. Thank you Dylan for being a part of our wedding day and for being so thoughtful and wonderful to work with -- you made our day extra special.
They did such an amazing job playing for a group of late 20 somethings and making my birthday a super special and unique event. Everyone at the party gave rave reviews. They even did an impromptu cover for a friend who wanted to serenade me with Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire. Would highly recommend them to anyone who wants a fun group of musicians to make their event extra special!

As an entertainer I am always tuning in to what the audience wants, and how I can enhance everyone's experience with my music. I can be the life of the party with a full band keeping you and your friends dancing until the wee hours with anything from boot-stomping americana and red hot rockabilly to funk, soul, and dance hits, or simply provide some pleasant background folk or jazz for a cocktail party or company event. I often play acoustically for smaller gatherings and can also provide sound systems for larger spaces or work with your event planner to make sure I have everything I need to make the sound perfect for your event.
Dylan Charles is a singer/songwriter/producer based in Ann Arbor, MI. His music runs the gamut from acoustic americana and blues to soul/rock and lofi/funk jams. He is currently working with producer Tony Calabro of Astoria Park Recording to polish up the mountains of material he has accumulated since taking a performance hiatus in 2020.
His latest single “Ship” dropped May 12 and is now streaming on all platforms. More single drops are on the horizon as Dylan gears up to release a concept album double-EP called LIGHTside/darkSIDE of which “Ship” is the first episode.
LsdS will be Dylan’s most ambitious solo record since his work with Bisbee, AZ band The Border Crossers on Time for Breakfast (2009) and Scorpions, Sickles & Skyscrapers (2011); both albums produced by Craig Schumacher (Calexico, Amos Lee, Devotchka and many more…)
While living in New York City, Dylan’s creative energy was primarily dedicated to touring, writing and recording with his soul band On the Sun before he stepped down from the group in 2020. On the Sun LP (2014), Gratuity Not Included EP (2018) and the single Get Focused (Live) (2019) all feature his work.
In addition to his own projects, he frequently collaborates with other artists as a producer, co-writer and multi-instrumentalist.
He began playing professionally at a young age in Ann Arbor, MI, and later studied jazz at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. There he freelanced as a guitarist-for-hire and released two albums with collaborative original music projects. After graduating he journeyed to the eccentric town of Bisbee, AZ, wrote songs like crazy, and began performing regionally with his band The Border Crossers, recording with producer Craig Schumacher (Calexico, Devotchka, Neko Case), and touring nationally as a solo artist. He has been featured as “Local Pick-of-the-Week” on 91.3 KXCI Tucson Community Radio, played mandolin with multi-award winning Tucson bluegrass band The Dusty Buskers, and shared the stage with blues icon John Hammond and guitar virtuoso Junior Brown. He has performed at festivals such as SXSW, CMJ, Tucson Folk Fest, Midpoint Music Fest and countless music venues across the US.
