We write our own songs! If you love The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac, you’ll love us. We play originals, but we’re strongly influenced by’60s and ’70s pop and rock. Our easy, catchy sound features tight harmonies and a lively trading off of lead vocals and instruments. We do have covers in our repertoire--mostly albums cuts from the '60s and '70s ... Gram Parsons, The Youngbloods, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley. If you have specific covers you’d like to hear, we'll work them up for you. We can also write a custom song for your special occasion (extra fee).

We play a mix of upbeat, original pop songs and lesser-known 1960s and 1970s cover songs (or originals only, as you choose). We can play from 1-4 hours, as agreed upon by both parties. We are nice, quiet people, and very easy to work with. Perfect party entertainment.
East Side Story began in summer of 2008 as a flock of musician pals doing a weekly jam on Julie Zeitlin’s deck in East Nashville. Over time, the group pared down to its current three members—Julie, Joe Bidewell and Maarten Muller.
Uptempo songs, catchy grooves and rich harmonies create our unique sound that’s sometimes likened to Fleetwood Mac. Our live show is fun and dynamic, thanks to the way we take turns playing our instruments, which include guitar, percussion, bass and harmonica. All three of us are songwriters, and our set list includes an eclectic mix of originals and semi-obscure covers (you've heard them, but not a 1,000 times!). For example: "Three Little Birds" (Bob Marley); "How Sweet it Is" (James Taylor); "I'll Take You There" (The Staple Singers); and "Uptight" (Stevie Wonder).
We play many of Nashville’s most prominent clubs. Venues past and present include Ri’chard’s Cajun Cafe, Antique Archaeology, The 5 Spot, Mad Donna's, Casablanca Coffee House, Dan McGuinness, Hotel Indigo, The 5-Spot, and Belcourt Taps & Tapas. We’re also the perfect complement to private indoor parties, private outdoor parties and special events.
We just released our second CD, Begin Again. Our first was titled East Side Story. Wherever we play, we’re always asked back.
We use three mics, three acoustic guitars and one electric bass, for a total of seven inputs; however, we can bring our own bass amplifier to reduce it to six inputs. We can bring our own PA, or use yours.
Most of our songs are originals; our covers consist of lesser-known-but-still-familiar tunes including Hickory Wind (Gram Parsons); I Shall Be Released (Bob Dylan); Get Together (The Youngbloods); "Tell Me" (The Beatles); Three Little Birds (Bob Marley); Uptight (Stevie Wonder); How Sweet it Is (James Taylor); I'll Keep it With Mine (Bob Dylan) and more. If you'd like a complete list of titles, let us know.
