***Choosing Your Ensemble (We understand if you want them all)***
String Solo: 1 musician.
String Duo: 2 musicians.
String Trio (Recommended Ensemble & Most Popular): 3 musicians.
String Quartet: 4 musicians.
***Why do we recommend a String Trio? ***
A String Trio offers an elegant balance of sound. It provides all registers of pitch – high, middle, and low. Additionally, it is a cost-considerate choice. We find that a string trio provides the appropriate sound for all size weddings, though a quartet may be an appropriate choice for a larger wedding.
***What does ensemble choice affect?***
Experience: Imagine going to a coffee shop or bar that often plays live music. One week there is a band playing, and the next week there is a singer-songwriter. The band (a larger ensemble) probably makes you feel chatty and a little more social. The singer-songwriter (a soloist/1 musician) likely intrigues you directly to their singing and playing as it is a more intimate environment. The same is true with string ensembles. The larger the ensemble, the more social and active your audience will be. Less musicians creates a more intimate atmosphere which may be more appropriate for smaller spaces.
Sound: A soloist will have a more direct sound, with less volume than that of a larger ensemble. An analogy: Imagine playing 1 note on a piano, then imagine playing 2 or more notes on a piano at the same time. The 2 or more note version gives you more harmony and more sound. This is analogous to a string soloist versus a string duo, string trio, or string quartet. Both, however, are beautiful options.
Price: Simply put, price is associated with the number of musicians.
