We decided at the last minute to try and find someone to play for our wedding ceremony. Our original plan was to have a recording played as we knew no one would know the music we wanted. When this wasn't an option I frantically searched The Knot about 40 days before the wedding. I found Ray. I thought I was going to have a difficult time explaining what we had wanted, but Ray quickly put my worries at ease. He transcribed the music for our wedding and played our selections flawlessly. Fortunately Ray had had wedding later in the day that Saturday but could play for us earlier, going out of his way to make it happen. Ray and his Quartet have endless selections to choose from and when all else fails he can transcribe the music....awesome. They played beautifully and shortened and extended the music to make it work in real time. I could not believe something I thought was difficult Ray made work better then I could have hoped. My whole experience with Ray, from choosing selections to the final song playing was extremely professional and the cost was much less than I had expected. For as wonderful as they were I feel like I should have paid much much more than I did. I don't think there is a more perfect combination of gifted musicians, professionalism and cost out there. Thanks Ray and the Elegant Quartet for making our Ceremony so memorable!

I cannot praise Elegance String Quartet enough for the incredible addition they were to my sisters surprise pre-wedding evening. After her wedding was moved a year due to COVID, I was grateful to still bring them a great evening as they begin planning for next year. Ray was fabulous, professional and timely. His wife joined on the violin (he on the cello) and they played all the songs we requested. They also wore masks the entire performance which was very important to us. We really are so grateful to have had them and HIGHLY recommend them!

We are so glad that we chose Elegance to play at our wedding ceremony! They have a huge song list to choose from and were even willing to learn a song that we requested! Ray was so great leading up to our wedding day - he answered every question we had and was so kind and accommodating. Everything they played sounded so beautiful and added the perfect touch to our ceremony. All of our wedding guests were amazed at how great they sounded, especially while playing the more modern songs. They also did a great job working with our family friend who sang a solo as a part of our ceremony. It made for such a beautiful pairing. We would recommend Elegance to anyone who is getting married!

I am Very Happy to write this review. Ray and Sophia really came through for me. they helped make the celebration of my 1st Anniversary a moment to remember for Life. I wanted to do something really special for My Wife for our Anniversary. I had been in contact with Ray a few weeks prior to our visit to Philadelphia. I searched for a venue that would allow them to play couldn't find one. Ray gave me a few names and I contacted the venues. I was discouraged because of the prices I was quoted. At that point I thought I would have to scrap my plans. The day of our Anniversary I thought maybe it could still happen. I contacted Ray to see if they could play at an apartment we rented. To my delight he said he could and literally a few hours later Ray and Sophia were playing for My wife and I. They played our requested songs and others and they made that Very Special Day more Magical. I would Highly recommend Elegance String Quartet for your Special Day or Occasion. Thank You Ray and Sophia once again. We are still Smiling.

I am more than happy to give a glowing review for Elegance String Quartet after my experience. I had one violinist play three songs during my proposal. Ray was very professional and accommodating in the weeks leading up to the event. He was always available to answer any questions by e-mail or phone, understanding and respectful of what I wanted for the day, and checked in to make sure everything was set a few days beforehand. During the actual proposal, Mike played wonderfully for all of the songs I requested. He was not only talented but also intuitive in knowing when to come over and how to improvise with playing given the situation. I needed Mike to be innocuous with the first song he played when we arrived so I could do my thing first. I was given his cell phone number to have him start playing before I arrived and he did an incredible job of playing the song without drawing too much attention to the playing before I could propose. He also knew how to give us space and time before he came over and played the other songs I requested. I'm very pleased and would highly recommend!

I cannot say enough great things about Elegance String Quartet. We had the quartet play at a pre-prom party and they were marvelous! From the moment I inquired about their services they were friendly and professional. They always got back to me quickly and made the planning a breeze. It was easy to trust that they'd be a great fit! Elegance was so accomodating and willing to play requests. They showed up early and looked great. We had them play pop music chosen from their large (amazing) repertoire. They also learned 3 requested songs. I recommend Elegance Quartet to everyone and anyone who wants some great music for any type of event!
String Quartet
CVCC hired Ray Bishel and his wife to perform a duet of violin and cello for our Valentine’s Day dinner at the Club for our Members. The music selections from Elegance String Duet set the mood for a romantic and relaxing dinner at the Club. Our Members and staff enjoyed listening to the duet throughout the night. Ray was very professional and easy to work with when I booked the date. We look forward to hiring Elegance String Quartet for our future events at the Club and highly recommend them for any event you may be planning.

What to Expect
We are a professional and energetic group whose focus is to play for the audience. When ESQ performs at your event, we are there to complement the atmosphere and provide high quality entertainment. We are not there to stick out or seem out of touch with what is going on with our listeners. We have played professionally for over 20 years and believe that beautiful music is the unifying ingredient for any event.
About
The Elegance String Quartet is made up of professional and exciting musicians from the Philadelphia area. We hold music degrees from some of the most prestigious conservatories around, including Curtis, Julliard, Temple University and Peabody. Music is our life and we do it full time, whether performing in the symphony, playing chamber music with our colleagues, or entertaining guests at your special event.
Besides being proficient with the classical repertoire, Elegance SQ is completely at ease with writing and playing arrangements of modern rock and pop songs. Just take a listen to some of our recordings featured here on Gig Salad! With everything from the early classics like Bach and Mozart, all the way up to the Beatles and Coldplay, we are the ensemble that will leave your guests talking about your event for years to come. Having played music all over the world professionally for over 15 years, we have seen-it-all, done-it-all, and we look forward to playing for you.
