Kay Sanderfer, also known as Kay Bae, is an emcee, performance artist, and social worker from Detroit, MI. Kay is a graduate of the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, holding a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology (2015) with a concentration in Community Action & Social Change, and a Masters of Social Work (2016) with a focus in Communities & Social Systems. She has worked professionally in a variety of roles over the past 10 years. Her titles include mental health therapist, care manager, community advocate, consultant, event planner, and mistress of ceremonies.

Kay, a graduate of the Detroit Public School system, has a passion for all things art and community. She has vision of designing spaces in Detroit that encourage young adults to embrace their artistic talents. Her hobbies include recording music, creative writing, and event planning. She has created several event series held in Detroit including brunches, educational workshops, and women empowerment events. In 2020, she began curating and hosting the Mondaze Open Mic series, providing a unique platform for local artists to showcase their talent and be paid for their performances. Kay makes it a priority to patron the Detroit arts scene(s), and be an active participant in it as a music and spoken word artist, and event emcee. She is a lover of musical theatre and hip-hop culture.

Kay believes that art is a critical component of our social and emotional development. Art has the power to unite people across all creeds, colors, and communities. It helps us understand each others experiences, and can be essential to our individual healing.

Microphone & sound system required. DJ preferred. Projector available in the space for visual aids is needed depending upon request.
