Elite Emcee & Mistress of Ceremonies

I approach events from a 3 point perspective: Be Empathetic, Be Informed, Be A Source of Joy & Comfort for the room.

My goal is to meet the outlined needs of the client and ensure their guests have a memorable experience. This role can look like: An Activity Lead or Facilitator, A Mistress of Ceremonies, A Spokesperson/Spokesmodel for your brand, A Greeter for your guests, A Motivational Speaker, Panel Host or Speaker, Ceremony Officiant - or whatever you're creative mind can think of!

I hold a Master's and Bachelor's Degree from the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor , and my educational background is in social work and sociology. Throughout my career I've held various leadership positions that require me to speak publicly, and inspire others - including leading retreats and workshops, speaking at conferences, and hosting a wide variety of community-focused events. Currently, I curate and host a regular open mic event in Detroit, MI , and work private bookings throughout the city.

My emcee experience includes: Corporate events, Weddings/Bridal Showers/Receptions, Entertainment Events, Private Parties, Religious Ceremonies and more. I am confident that I bring a unique and personalized experience to any occasion; and can be as personable or professional as you prefer.

As a hip hop and spoken word artist, my content is inspired by my life experience as a Black woman from Detroit, navigating the complexities of womanhood, career, relationships, and spirituality. I connect deeply with causes that focus of socio-cultural awareness, equity and justice - particularly for Black and brown children and students, women empowerment, and low-income communities.

My performance style is influenced by the likes of MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Aja Monet, Rhapsody, Sister Souljah, Angela Davis, & Detroit's poet laureate Jessica Care More.

My Performance experience includes: open mics, musical festivals, private parties, educational events, televised events, and corporate events.

Kay, also known as Kay Bae, is an emcee, performance artist, and social worker from Detroit, MI. Kay is a graduate of the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, holding a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology (2015) with a concentration in Community Action & Social Change, and a Masters of Social Work (2016) with a focus in Communities & Social Systems. She has worked professionally in a variety of roles over the past 10 years. Her titles include mental health therapist, care manager, community advocate, consultant, event planner, and mistress of ceremonies.

Kay, a graduate of the Detroit Public School system, has a passion for all things art and community. She has vision of designing spaces in Detroit that encourage young adults to embrace their artistic talents. Her hobbies include recording music, creative writing, and event planning. She has created several event series held in Detroit including brunches, educational workshops, and women empowerment events. In 2020, she began curating and hosting the Mondaze Open Mic series, providing a unique platform for local artists to showcase their talent and be paid for their performances. Kay makes it a priority to patron the Detroit arts scene(s), and be an active participant in it as a music and spoken word artist, and event emcee. She is a lover of musical theatre and hip-hop culture.

Kay believes that art is a critical component of our social and emotional development. Art has the power to unite people across all creeds, colors, and communities. It helps us understand each others experiences, and can be essential to our individual healing.

Microphone & sound system required. Professional sound team preferred. Projector available in the space for visual aids is needed depending upon request.
An agenda for the day of your event, with times, locations, and need to know information must be provided at least 24 hours prior to the start of the event. This must be reviewed with the client prior to the start of the booking.
