I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and spent most of my time outdoors. I love the natural world and have appreciation for everything in it. I had a music instructor once tell me that I would never have as much talent in my entire body as Bobby Mcferrin has in his pinky finger. I developed horrible stage fright as a result. Music was the only thing that made me feel good and comfortable expressing myself. I sadly set music aside until I was about 18 years old, when my dad told me that I really wasn't bad I just needed to keep practicing. So I did....and continued to improve. I just couldn't kick the stage fright. I played a few open mic nights without much success. My father passed away in a freak accident when I was 20 years old but I always held on to his words. I studied abroad in Australia and had the opportunity to audition for Songwriter's Live at the Old Manly Boatshed. I was the opening performer on my 22nd birthday. That was my start.
I came back to the USA with a fire burning. I moved to Charlotte, NC to be closer to my mom and put an add on Craigslist (which I do not necessarily recommend to everyone!!). However, luck was on my side and my add, which described me as a 'professional', was responded to by several other professionals. That was my goal...to weed out the garage bands and find people who I could truly LEARN from. I spilled the beans immediately about having no experience in the music world. Most were not willing to work with me but one offered me free music lessons. I sang one song for him and was in the band...under the pretense that I didn't let him down and LISTENED to what there was for me to learn. I did exactly that. I have been playing music with that professional for over 5 years now and his family is my extended family. With their love and support I was able to face my fears, make new musical friends and find peace in the tragic loss of my father. I also shared my voice through working with females ages 6-56 and using music as a tool to empower them and teach them teamwork by playing together. I have also had the pleasure of organizing VH1 Save the Music Open-Mic Fundraisers as well as help coordinate Paddle Fenwick SUP Fundraiser which raises money for wounded warriors through Operation Second Chance. Paddle Fenwick raised over 30k in it's first year.
I moved to Park City, UT in 2012 and the rest is history. I was welcomed to the music community with open arms and have been a regular performer at several venues since I arrived. My heart has always been in the West, just like my father's was. I feel at peace here and like I can live my dreams and meet other amazing people at the same time! I was accepted in to the 2014 Park City Leadership Class 20 and could not be more grateful. I want to be a leader and am so lucky to have another voice, my singing voice, to share with the world.
I play originals and good covers and love to collaborate with other musicians. I am looking for opportunities to perform and network while I work on recording my first album. What to expect from me is someone reliable who will act as a representative of your organization. I am very down to earth, love meeting new people, can adapt well to any crowd. I am easy going and easy to work with. My slogan is: "A great performance can be selfless and selfish at the same time. You need to give everything to your audience but not care if you are being judged."
I would love the opportunity to represent you and your establishment at a future event!
