I'm Emily Burdette and I am a local singer/songwriter in Wilmington, North Carolina. You can typically find me on my regular gig with the Wilmington Water Tours singing for their sunset cruises. I have two full albums of original music recorded that I would classify as pop/folk genre. When I am playing private parties or restaurant shows, I play mostly covers including popular songs by Maroon 5, Fleetwood Mac, Ingrid Michaelson, Alicia Keys, etc. I try to mix it up so I can play something for everyone in the audience! My voice has been described by others as "angelic." I love to hit the high notes! I play acoustic guitar to accompany my voice.

The audience would get to hear what I'd say is "easy listening." I play mellow tunes, but keep them on the happy side. I tend to play mid to fast tempo songs with a few slow ones thrown in there. Think of some of the popular female artists you know such as Sheryl Crow, Jewel, Sara Bareilles, and a little bit of Stevie Nicks. I've been told I do Taylor Swift well. I play popular songs and try to provide a good range of music from the 70's to current songs.
Emily Burdette grew up in the small town of St. Albans, West Virginia. She began exploring music at a young age. Her mother and father always had music on in the house and encouraged listening to a wide range of artists such as The Beatles, Madonna, and the Beach Boys. She began writing lyrics when she was fourteen years old. After having tried piano lessons and deciding that wasn’t for her, she picked up the guitar.
While attending Belmont University in 2002 in Nashville, Tennessee, Emily decided she truly wanted to pursue a career in singing and songwriting. Her style emulates her influences including Jewel, Ingrid Michaelson, Sara Bareilles, and Colbie Caillat. She has a singer/songwriter style that invokes sounds of both pop and folk music.
In December 2011, Emily released Time to Speak, a 5-song EP of all original songs. This was done with the help of independent music producer and musician David White. She later recorded an eleven-track follow-up record with award winning producer Karen Kane. This latest CD, entitled Make Believe was released on Nov. 15, 2013. Both are available on iTunes, Amazon, & Spotify.
Emily is a member of NSAI; Nashville Songwriters Association International as well as an ASCAP member. She is currently performing at various locations in Wilmington, NC and the surrounding area.
When I play a show, I bring a small amp, microphone, and my guitar. My only requirement may be that I'd need an extension cord if the outlet I need to plug into is far away from where I am setting up, which is usually not the case.
