Overview
I am a bestselling author and internationally renowned keynote speaker on topics including conscious leadership, leadership in times of turbulence and disruption, how to create engaged (and thriving!) teams, the role of emotional intelligence in today's workplace, how to rid organizations of toxicity, how to create diversity, inclusion & belonging, and creating and enhancing trust in organizations.
I use a combination of storytelling and research to create presentations that resonate with my clients. Clients like how I speak with my audience rather than at them.
I also have a YouTube Channel and a Podcast called The Cost of Not Paying Attention where you can get a better sense of my style!
1 Review
I cannot say enough what a delight it was to work with Janine! She is fun and upbeat as well as prompt and organized. Her presentation had the audience engaged and they gave rave reviews.
As the even coordinator, Janine made my life easy. She managed any paperwork and responded to messages and requests quickly and efficiently.
Janine has a broad range of topics, and she is able to adapt to the needs of the organization. She took the time to ask about our culture and as a result the presentation targeted the audience perfectly.

What to Expect
I love to work with event planners to develop talks that will speak directly to my clients needs. If the team is feeling burnt-out, I have a talk on burnout. If the organization is struggling to recruit and retain top talent, I have a talk about what's happening in the marketplace and how to frame our organization as someplace people really want to work (that I delivered at the CA HR Convention). If you're organizing a leadership training, I have a keynote on 21st century leadership and another on leading in times of turbulence and disruption (which I delivered at the County of San Diego's Leadership Academy). I have a talk on diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEI&B) that I used when I was the final keynote speaker at the US Navy's first Summit on Diversity.
I am also a no-drama speaker! I want it to be a great experience for the audience and the organizers!
Some of my featured keynote topics include:
USE CIVILITY TO DIFFERENTIATE YOUR CULTURE
The top issue on the minds of C-Suite Execs? Attraction and retention of top talent. The problem? Workplace incivility. Harvard Business Review found that 99% of workers reported that they experienced incivility in the workplace! The cost of incivility on corporate bottom lines is staggering and the younger workers will quickly leave an organization whose values and behaviors don’t match their own. By introducing a seemingly “small” concept – civility – organizations can turn the tide.
REDEFINING LEADERSHIP IN THE AGE OF DISRUPTION AND AI
In the state of constant disruption in which many organizations find themselves, the new Smart Machine Age and era of AI, organizations are being challenged to redefine the roles of their leaders – which is the trickiest to do as the way they’ve done things in the past has definitely worked. This talk focuses on the opportunity to help your leaders – and their teams – understand that, if you don’t disrupt your business, someone else will do it for you!
BEYOND NAPPING PODS: CREATE A HEALTHY CULTURE THAT DRIVES RESULTS
Every company has a culture. It may be expressed in the feelings, tones, moods, and attitudes of your people. Or in the assumptions, values, traditions, artifacts, and ethical understandings/ practices of the organization. More than salaries, benefits, or perks, the employees of today care about working for an organization that shares their values. In an age of statistical “full-employment,” creating these cultures is the key to the #1 issue on the minds of C-Suite executives: hiring and retention of top talent.
WHY THE CUSTOMER MUST COME SECOND
It’s common sense: Take care of your staff, and your staff will take care of your customers. But most companies fail to recognize the impact of employee morale on the customer experience…at our own peril. The majority of America’s workforce is actively disengaged – at a cost of $450 billion annually! This talk focuses on both easy and more advanced strategies to create workplaces where employees go above and beyond – because they want to.
