Hi, my name is Kira Jackson and I am a makeup artist with huge visions on impacting the world through self-empowerment. The media industry is so lost in the world and I want to change that because I too, was very lost. We all have our own stories; I'd like to share mine. I grew up in a household that was very tense, with constant fighting and yelling. I only saw my parents kiss twice. During elementary school I went through very severe bullying that included emotional, mental, physical, and sexual abuse for 5 years straight. I had no friends, and was confused and hurt by the world around me that was merciless and seemed to hate me for no reason, so I started to do the same. I started self harming at age 8 by slamming my head, bruising myself, and trying so hard to break my bones so that someone would have a reason to take care of me. At age 10 I was completely engulfed in a horrible depression and could no longer continue the acting I was doing, and got involved in modeling instead. For the next 2 years, I became a victim of child erotica, and at the same time was in the worst bullying about food, and I developed anorexia and bulimia at age 12, paranoia and anxiety, worsened depression and started cutting.
I also started drinking and smoking and doing drugs. After 7 suicide attempts between 7th and 8th grade, I was kicked out of my school and hit rock bottom. Little did I know God was my rock at the bottom. I was 90LBS, covered in scars, and had no friends. After having to get 14 stitches inside and out of my leg and nearly hitting an artery, I was so close to death, and possessed by demons that God reached out and reminded me that I can choose life. After noticing that God wasn’t gonna let me die, I chose life by going to Mercy Ministries of America in Tennessee for almost a year, and I was saved. God turned my test into a testimony, my misery into a ministry, and my mess into a message. He met me where I was and loved me. I thought my problems were my eating disorders, drug problems, and cutting, but those were my solutions to my real problems of pain and rejection. Once I changed my solution to God, my life turned a complete 180. God turned a hopeless situation into a miracle – He has talent. He gave me talent as well - an eye for art and change. I've always wanted to be a makeup artist to give people the confidence they deserve, and to remind them to match the beauty on the inside to the outside. Confident women cannot be stopped - and I also love to share my story with people, including clients because you never know who it could help - models with eating disorders, actors with drug and alcohol problems and also suicidal tendancies. I love everyone and want to be a help.
