Eric Pierce is a Mid-South native. Born in Memphis Tennessee , Eric grew up singing in his grandfather’s church. As a young boy, Eric began to explore his musical creativity, listening to all types of music at home and singing and playing instruments along with the recordings. His sister Janet helped him to cultivate his singing abilities, while his stepfather recognized his talent and had him playing bass on Beale Street with the JJ Blues Band.
Eric continued to develop his talents on his own. His early influences in music was very different from his surroundings. His home was filled with so many genres of music, he developed a passion for Jazz, Soul, Funk, R&B, Rock, Country, and Pop as he grew musically. He is a Versatile singer, with a love for all genres of music. Guitar, Piano, Drums, Bass, are some of his inspirational instruments.
Eric has had the pleasure to have played or open up for many artist, including, J. Blackfoot, Johnny Taylor, Bobby Rush, Marvin Sease, Black Oak Arkansas, Bill Coday, and local acts like The Fabulous Steeler Band, The King Beez, Groove Nation, and Even Odds.
Eric Pierce is the first son of guitarist, Willie A. Pierce and singer, Lettie L Pierce. Eric began life singing in the family’s church, Mt Zion in Brownsville TN at 4 years old. He took an interest in musical instruments and started playing his father’s guitar at 6. Dealing with the racially heated south caused Eric to become more dedicated to learning more about music and artistic expression. Eric learned to play multiple instruments and to write songs. He has been performing since he was 16 professionally. Working with artists like Denise Lasalle, Bill Coday, The Temprees, Rue Davis, Coming from a musically talented family, he has worked with many of the local musicians in Memphis Tennessee. Eric spent years on the southern soul scene as a backup singer and opening act. His most recent album is a testament to his skills as a songwriter.
