Erinn Alexis is a Detroit native who was born into a musical family. Growing up surrounded by Jazz, Motown and Gospel, Erinn knew she was a musician from an early age. Saxophone being her first love, she began playing in high school and was surrounded by mentors such as Andrew Bishop, Sean Dobbins, Marcus Belgrave, Marion Hayden, and Russell Miller. Erinn continued her studies with Russell Miller at Wayne State University where she studied Jazz Performance.
Erinn Alexis’ sound carries elements of soul and gospel inspired by artists such as Maceo Parker, The Clark Sisters, and Cannonball Adderly. She has shared stages with artists such as Joan Belgrave, Jessica Care Moore, and Dee Dee Bridgewater as a member of the Dee Dee Bridgewater Big Band in addition to leading her own ensembles.
