FAKIN’ IT is a New York City-based musical duo made up of old friends that play, in tribute, the music of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel.
Singer-songwriter Jason Consolacion plays guitar and lends his voice to Simon’s poignant lyrics while jazz vocalist Zack Foley stands to Jason’s right, perfecting Garfunkel’s harmonies. Both take their own artistic liberties with the music while remaining faithful to the spirit of Simon & Garfunkel.

Jason and Zack set up, stand and perform very much in the same way as Paul and Art would. Two mics, one regular mic stand, one boom stand, and a direct input for Jason's guitar is all the equipment needed for sound. When they perform, they can engage with the audience, or serve as background. They can perform anywhere from one to three hours of music, composed mainly of Simon & Garfunkel tunes, with a few Paul Simon solos offerings and some original music, which is composed in the two-part harmony, folk-pop sensibilities as the work of S&G.
Jason Consolacion met Zack Foley in the Spring of 1991 while both attended Kingwood Middle School in a suburb north of Houston, TX.
There were very few similarities between the two, other than their mutual love for the music of Paul Simon and Simon & Garfunkel. Jason would escape his aspirations to be the next Michael Jackson and Zack veered off the path towards the theatre. Soon they were hidden in practice rooms harmonizing and perfecting the S&G catalogue.
Life would break them apart musically, but their friendship continued to grow, firmly bound by “all of the nights they harmonized ‘til dawn.” Zack would go on to study jazz in high school and college while Jason turned into a bit of a singer-songwriter himself.
As the two casually performed at each other’s gigs, it became apparent that the sound of their two voices together brought out something special, both in the singers themselves and from their audience. Now living in New York City, nearly two decades after first singing “Homeward Bound”, they’ve decided to “sing those songs again, play the game and pretend” by forming a Simon & Garfunkel tribute group.
While reproducing all the S&G favorites, Zack & Jason have taken subtle artistic liberties to keep the music fresh. But their renditions remain true to the music and the spirit of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel.
