Farm Girl's Harp is a complete package that does not require anything extra. Me, my harp, my bench, and my music stand and I am good to go. I arrive at least an hour before I am to start playing so that I can set up, let the harp acclimate, and have a quiet place to tune. Generally, all music selection and pricing can be decided through email, text, or phone call prior to any event. Wedding rehearsals are beneficial to go to, but not a necessity on my end; I will attend if requested free of charge.
Song Requests: If there is a special song request and I can find harp music for it, I need that request at least a month in advance. If there is a special song request and I cannot find harp music for it, I need that request at least two months in advance to arrange it for the harp.
Outdoor Events: Outdoor events pose a lot of extra things to consider when it comes to the harp. There must be access to a climate controlled area for the harp in case of bad weather. The temperature must be above 60 and below 90 or not only will the harp not stay in tune, it will be very harmful for it.
My service in the Guard makes it difficult to guarantee I am available as there are times we are unexpectedly called upon for state and/or federal activation. For this reason, I do not take or require payments more than a couple days in advance of your event. Thank you for your understanding.
Rachel grew up on a fourth generation, family run farm in rural North Dakota and has strong ties to farming, agriculture, and livestock, and as a result, she has a plethora of interests and passions that stem from that. Sometime in high school, after watching a PBS documentary that show cased the harp, she fell in love with the instrument and began to pursue a new interest, occasionally playing at church and as well as a few weddings and business events. Throughout college music was an underlying passion, pushing her to perform more with the harp, and even to join the NDSU Concert Choir. After graduation her harp business took off in earnest and she played for countless weddings, events, and funerals in the area. A few years after college another interest pulled at her and she joined the North Dakota Army National Guard (which she is still a part of today). Today, as a citizen-soldier, homesteader, carpenter's wife, and harpist, life is very full, but she wouldn't have it any other way!
Under most circumstances, the harp does not require any amplification unless in a large and noisy room. If amplification is desired, a microphone on a stand and a sound system would be required. I have played for receptions, Christmas parties, indoor and outdoor weddings, photo shoots, funerals, etc. and in my experience, staying acoustic has been ample sound.

I always travel with a bench that I can either sit on while I play, or set my harp on to play standing up. I always bring my fold-up music stand as well, but if you have a certain stand that you would rather have me use, I will use that.
When you contact me I will usually ask for directions, if I can show up at least an hour ahead of time, and what you would like me to wear (a certain color preference, perhaps)
I have a wide variety of music, from pop, Christian, Celtic, classical, Jewish/ Israeli, Irish, Scottish, or even just simple melodies to pick from. I will also ask if you have any specific music you would like and will try to either find harp music for it or arrange it to the harp. Keep in mind, this usually requires at least a month in advance to prepare however, and may require an additional fee if music needs to be ordered.
If the venue/audience is large, you may want to amplify the harp. You would need at least one microphone and sound system. The harp is an acoustic instrument otherwise.
