“My mom used to write rhymes and I would sit back and watch her,"
says F.E.N.I.X. “She tried to keep me away from rap
because she wanted me to focus on school; but it came natural, it was a passion that I couldn’t deny.” Despite her feelings, F.E.N.I.X.’s mother soon realized her son’s sonic presence was undeniable and unique; she signed the dotted line allowing F.E.N.I.X. to have his first contract at the early age of 10, with Music Buster Entertainment, a local record label.
“When I turned 14, I began to get into a lot of trouble and even went to prison,” says F.E.N.I.X., “That point in my life was like being musically trapped in a time capsule. I had nothing to do, so I put my ear to the street and wrote music, nonstop.”
Despite the odds, F.E.N.I.X. used his decade of confinement to perfect his craft. Through this he developed a style that is like no other. He compiled albums worth of material before entering a studio to record his first demo. F.E.N.I.X. found a new purpose.

“My mother was murdered by a serial killer and the case remains unsolved,”
says F.E.N.I.X. “It showed me that nothing in life is promised, that’s when I realized I couldn’t take the gift I was given for granted, I had to pursue music.”
F.E.N.I.X.’s evolving knowledge of music and years of experience has contributed to his well-rounded sound.
"I like to think of my style as universal. My music can’t be confined to simply one audience. Every song I make reminds me of a different time and a different place, reflecting different experiences. That’s what makes each song I record different from the next, this allows me to identify with a more diverse audience. My music reaches the audience by creating an atmosphere, then it creates a vision, the vision then creates art. I want my art to be heard all around the world.”
F.E.N.I.X.'s profound style and delivery creates such a presence that sets him apart from the next MC who's bringing you the stories already told. Music that has substance and soul has nurtured F.E.N.I.X. throughout the most tragic episodes of his life. From the gratitude that is shown for the legends that came before him, F.E.N.I.X. knows that timeless music takes more than just a beat and the ability to make words rhyme.
"I'm not going in the booth to spit lies and bullshit,” says F.E.N.I.X., "It takes years of dedication and passion which is what is missing in today’s music.
Today's music is like fast food. Everything is quick and easy, it all sounds the same and will be forgotten just as fast as it was created.
I'm tired of the mindset of the rap game, like I said in one of my songs - 'Rappers got them demons in 'em, I perform The "Exorcist'. I have what it takes to change rap music.”
Like the rap pioneers of the past and
present F.E.N.I.X.’s music speaks volumes to masses and is destined to leave a permanent mark in moving rap music forward.
