It's a 60 minute aerobic-dance program featuring a variety of rhythms from all over Latin America. You'll get a taste of everything - merengue, salsa, flamenco, samba, tango, reggae, cumbia, calypso, cha cha, belly dancing, breakdancing and more!
First you warm up for 5 - 10 minutes with toning exercise that work all of the major muscle groups.
Then, for the next 50 minutes, you try out all of the different styles of Latin dancing, changing the rhythm with each song minutes.
Finally, there's a 5-minute cool down.
As a member of the Zumba Instructor Network (ZIN), I receive ongoing training in exercise leadership, to continuously create great new choreography and dance techniques, as well as ongoing education; to keep dance skills and fitness knowledge up-to-date.
I am very passionate about teaching Zumba, a class that offers an aerobic workout accompanied by pulsating Latin rhythms. I have the knowledge and "the groove" of the different musical and movement styles, making classes lively and fun. No dance experience is necessary to enjoy a Zumba class. It's a great cardio workout, appropriate for all fitness levels.
I need an out-let and dance space or possibly a stage. If in doors air condition or outdoors, a canopy.
Wear comfortable, breathable clothing that your can move freely in.
Wear comfortable fitness shoes with a sole that is somewhat flat. This is a dance fitness class, so I stress wearing a fitness sneaker or shoe with good support but you will need to be able to "slide" and "pivot" on the floor as well.
A good cross training sneaker is best or you can look into the many new "dance" sneakers that are now available.
Drink plenty of water before, during and after class. Hydration is very, very important!!
