I am a poet and spoken word artist who has spent the last 20 years perfecting my craft in Phoenix, Arizona. I now live just 30 minutes east of Dallas, Texas in Terrell. I teach poetry workshops to youth and have experience as an actor and motivational speaker. I have written two books and have been a co-writer of several plays. I have works for any audience and I love words. The sounds of them and the nuances and connotations that come with them. I am a very good performer and I can write custom works for your event.
Thank you for your consideration.
I cannot say enough nice things about our experience with FlipSide. He wrote a BEAUTIFUL poem that was exactly what we had asked for due to his extensive research and showed up early to the event (our 3 Easter services at church). He was kind, polite, friendly and even jumped in helping to pass things out. His performance was very powerful. Can't wait to have him back some time. THANK YOU, FLIPSIDE for a great experience!

What you can expect is a rollercoaster ride of emotions during a long form show. I will always perform to the theme if there is one. I have worked with the youth my entire career so I know how to perform to a younger crowd as well. I also teach poetry workshops and have done so for the past 15 years so no crowd is off limits.
What you can expect is that I will give an energetic show that will be both entertaining and thought provoking.
Robert Daniels, who is also known professionally as FlipSide, is a writer. He has worked as a journalist, a playwright, a poet and an author. The Southern California raised Daniels started working in the field of public relations and journalism when he was just 16 years old, when he co-founded a local music magazine.
After leaving the California for higher educational goals at the University of Nevada- Las Vegas, Daniels returned to California earning degrees in Business Administration and Finance at Chaffey College.
Daniels then began a six-year teaching career, while also working as a sports reporter for a local newspaper.
He taught language arts and an early reading program at a K-6 and math at a middle school in San Bernardino.
In 1999, Daniels left California again to take a position as the Editor-in-chief of People’s Underground Beat (PUB) Magazine, an underground music publication based in Phoenix, Arizona. In Phoenix, Daniels wrote and published his first book Say Something… Or not … Whatever.
Daniels was at the helm of PUB for five years and during that time Daniels also produced a weekly radio show and a two concerts for PUB Entertainment.
In 2004, PUB headquarters moved to Waukegan, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Daniels chose not go with them.
In 2005, Daniels became one of six co-founders for a new company. BlackPoet Ventures (BPV). BPV is a multimedia theatre company specializing in creating plays with poetry and music.
As the Director of Finance, Daniels was responsible for the economic health of the company and for the next ten years, BPV was a burgeoning arts company in the country. BPV raised more than $50,000 in grants and more than $100,000 in revenue. As a grassroots organization we used more than 250 performers in our twelve years of performances and performed shows in California, Texas, ,Missouri, Florida and Georgia.
While helping run BPV, Daniels also continued writing articles and joined the production team at the largest Black-owned newspaper in the state of Arizona. His contribution to the staff from (phone number hidden)9 helped them push their way from the page to the web.
In 2019, Daniels went back to teaching students. He became a teaching artist for a Mesa, Arizona based company. Before leaving Arizona in 2021 Daniels was the lead teaching artist for the East Valley in charge of five high schools and one junior high school in the Mesa School district. Mesa is the largest public school district in the state of Arizona servicing more than 64,000 students.
In 2021, Daniels took a job in the new family business, Crystal Clear Next Level Enterprises in the city of Forney, 20 miles east of Dallas. His family’s new endeavor is a trucking and logistics company.
Daniels is eager to establish his artistry in the new state.
I prefer to use a microphone with a mic stand because I use my hands a lot when I perform. However, if a stand is unavailable I can and will do without. Other than that all I require is good lighting so I can be seen, unless the lighting is meant to be dim for ambiance purposes.

I do spoken word poetry and I have a rotating list of about 25 poems that I perform. The reason there are that many is so that I can perform to the theme if necessary.
Some examples are Breathless, Innovation, Just Like the First Time, Rollercoaster Love and Single Father's Day.
Saul Williams, Taalam Acey, Maya Angelou, Amiri Baraka, the Watts Prophets, Sonia Sanchez and my BlackPoet Ventures crew.
