Forest is a professional one-man-banjo-band playing the bass drum and hi-hat with his feet, the banjo with his hands, all while singing and playing harmonica (with his mouth, obviously). Beutel's voice blends the high lonesome sounds of Hank Williams and Townes Van Zandt with gruff baritone vibrations akin to Johnny Cash and Tom Waits. He excels at high energy barnburners as well as down-tempo delta blues, whatever is appropriate for the crowd.
