We're a New York City tri-state area band primarily working out of the Hudson Valley area. If you're a Club looking for musical entertainment or have an event coming up and are looking for something a little different we definitely will not disappoint.
We are what we like to call a Frazz Band. We're an easy listening cool Jazz-Rock quartet available for your musical entertainment. Clubs, establishments, festivals, town or village events, corporate parties, weddings or whatever the occasion we'll bring the "Wow that's different" to your venue.
BAND MEMBERS:
RANDY SARNA - Keyboards
Randy has been playing piano since the early 1960's. He studied music at SUNY New Paltz, with composer/conductor Gundaris Pone, and has a degree in music theory and composition.
He has played with many groups throughout Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess counties. In the late 1970's Randy collaborated with guitar great Mike Demicco (Brubeck Brothers) to form "Spaces" a legendary Jazz/Fusion group. He has shared the stage with the Robin Trower Band and Steve Ferguson (NRBQ).
Frazz is a labor of love that has been developing for the past 2 years and now is "Alive".
VIC VANZO - Guitar
Vic has been playing guitar since 1968. He studied with guitar greats and session players Bucky Pizzarelli and Carmine D'Amico back in the 1970's. He played in various Classic Rock bands and Top 40 Bands for 20 years on and off the road. In 1983 he opened a recording studio (East Coast Productions, Inc.) in the Bronx, NY and ran that for 10 years. Since then Vic's love is traditional Jazz and Jazz Fusion.
He now teaches guitar & music theory from his home and helps out with the jazz band program at Haldane HS in Cold Spring, NY where he lives.
Vic says, "Interpretation is what it's all about! Take that song, that melody, those changes and make it yours!" His influences range from the likes of Django Reinhardt, Charlie Christian, Joe Pass, Herb Ellis, Kenny Burrell, Wes Montgomery going forward to George Benson, Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour and John Scofield.
BILLY DONAVAN - Bass
With forty years of playing gigs ranging from R&B to Country to Jazz to Rock, Billy has played with hundreds of musicians. His first major influence was Jack Bruce. Then he was introduced to Jazz Fusion, listening to Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Clarke, Will Lee and many others.
He says, "These cats really put the Electric Bass in the spotlight!"
Billy plays 5-string Fodera basses exclusively.
KURT BERGLUND - Drums
Kurt has had the opportunity to perform in many different situations and venues. While in high school, he performed at Yale University for the high school liberty band (1986). During college, Kurt was asked to perform with Richie Hart, the school's jazz guitar instructor. He has performed across the country at venues such as: Irving Plaza (NYC), House of Blues (New Orleans), Long Beach Convention Center (Long Beach, CA) and The Gathering Of The Vibes (Bridgeport, CT).
Kurt is comfortable in a variety of genres and styles, whether it's jazz, rock, New Orleans second line or Reggae one drop. He has shared the stage with artists as diverse a Toots and the Maytals, Buju Banton and The Tom Tom Club.
