Overview
Free Radicals is a 21-time Houston Press and Houston Chronicle award-winning band that can be seen performing across Houston at parties, weddings, clubs, funerals, break-dance competitions, and street protests. We perform as a jazz combo, a dance band with a horn section, a marching band with tuba, or even switch from one to another. We're available with 1 to 25 musicians, and play original instrumental material, and you can customize the band to your needs.

Free Radicals did a phenomenal job at our church's grand opening! They added such much to the celebration! The music was great and they were amazingly kind. We will definitely have them back again for more events! Special shout out to Nick for making it all happen-- great guy to work with! They brought a New Orlean's Second Line feel to our lobby to hype our folks for our celebration!

We booked Free Radical for my wife's grave side service. They played exceptional New Orleans style jazz songs. They were already there when we arrived (and we were early), dressed appropriately and nicely. These men were cordial, friendly, and very respectful. I would not hesitate to recommend them for any event.

Took a chance booking Free Radicals on Gig Salad and they did not disappoint, we received multiple compliments from our guests. They added value to our Mardi Gras themed gala and I would not hesitate to rebook them in the future.

Nick, Pete and Deante came out for a funeral service for my mother. I’d requested celebration of life; New Orleans funeral jazz, and made a few specific requests but very little direction otherwise. Everything they played was spot on, apt, gave the event the heart and soul I was hoping for to send my mother off. It was beautiful and perfect and they were so amiable and pleasant and talented. I can’t thank them enough. They were loved by all 70+ attendees. I can’t thank them enough.

What to Expect
We can be a quiet jazz trio in the corner, a loud marching band coming through the room and bringing everyone to their feet, or a party band on stage encouraging everyone to hit the dance floor. We are equally comfortable being the center of attention or background music. Our main goal is to support you, customizing your special event to your needs.

Since 1996, Free Radicals has been performing around Houston and around the US, winning the award for Best Jazz 13 times in the Houston Press, and winning the award for album of the year 3 times in the Houston Chronicle and Houston Press.
Additional Booking Notes
The marching band is entirely self-sufficient. We don't need electricity, a sound system, a stage, even chairs.
Smaller mood music combos we need electricity for our amps, but no sound system is required.
For the full stage band, we need a PA system, which we can bring or use a provided system.
