Gabriel Datcu is an extremely talented musician with a large repertoire. Gabriel provided music during our annual "Picnic in the Peonies" which is the opening event to the Wisconsin Arts & Peony Festival. What a treat to have Gabriel come and play music at my parent's celebration of life event. My parents were avid music lovers. They loved listening at their home and seeing performances. My mother had a voice degree in music and played piano herself. They loved a wide variety of musical styles, from classical, flamenco, gypsy swing, new age, country, blues, rock, new and old jazz.
When I submitted my requests via GigSalad for musical styles, I was so blown away at the YouTube sample samplings of his breadth of work. I just knew, those sample videos were just a tip of the iceberg regarding his guitar playing abilities. And I was correct.
Every step of the process from beginning to end was very simple and Gabriel was always so relaxed and kind.
He made the entire process smooth.
And his actual performance at the event was by far and away the most impressive part of the event. I told him he could play whatever moved him. He did take a few requests ' challenges' from some of the younger children present. Gabriel was more than pleased to accommodate. Special moments were made.

Gabriel was giving 8 specific songs that made a surprise marriage proposal epic… what he prepared was completely unexpected. What a pro… as soon as the songs became recognizable, he recorded himself, had repeat and then added layers and riffed like a seasoned jazz artist might, dancing around familiar sounds with impromptu stylized interpretations that took our breath away. This man has mad skills. He ended up playing 20 or so songs and at one point encouraged a guest (who mentioned he could sing) to join him. Gabriel is amazing artist that created a night we will never forget!

Gabriel played background guitar in a memorial service for one of my family members (who had also been a guitarist). Everything I read in reviews about Gabriel's musical artistry is true. I hired Gabriel as a solo guitarist for my son and daughter in law's wedding rehearsal dinner. I asked him to play " love songs " for our event. He proceeded to play perfectly and with feeling love songs for almost 3 hours. Everyone loved his music! I was asked multiple times how I had found Gabriel and I was very happy to tell everyone who asked. He arrived early and was professional. The cost to hire him was quite reasonable. While looking for entertainment for our corporate holiday party, I came across Gabriel's profile. After listening to his samples, I knew he was the one for our event. I knew our CEO would love him and his talents. Gabriel did not disappoint. He played in the background during our social event and appetizers. He did a wonderful job. On a whim, hoping to try something new, I decided to hire a live musician for my outdoor birthday party. I am very happy that I did. Gabriel was extremely responsive, on time, respectful and on point with his guitar skills. My guests where extremely amazed at his performance, I would definitely hire him again.

Gabriel was amazing. I had invited a few of our close friends and family over for my wife's birthday which we hosted in the backyard. I came up with the idea for a live band at the last minute, and was able to find Gabriel. Best thing that could happen. Gabriel was very flexible and was very responsive through the process. On the day of the party, Gabriel arrived on time and quickly setup and played through the night. We love singing so Gabriel was more than happy to play contemporary tunes we could all sing too. A few other musicians I had talked to didnt want to perform if we were singing, but Gabriel was more than happy to accompany. His music had life and totally transformed the evening. What started off as a regular backyard Dinner with friends became a concert in the park with all of us performing. As per my guests, we have officially raised the bar for parties with Gabriel's performance. All my guests took his contact info, so I know Gabriel is going to be get a lot busier.

Gabriel is an absolutely stellar guitarist! From listening to his videos, I knew he would be able to provide the type of music befitting our 40th anniversary. He came to our celebratory sailing event precisely on time, brought all the gear abroad, and proceeded to delight us with a variety of musical genres and styles. Being rather familiar with the music of the artists that he performed, we had a great conversational exchange about them. And we came to know a lot about his own musical life story. Gabriel and his duet were one of the biggest hits of my wife’s 50th birthday dinner. It’s significant because I asked them to just kind of be background music for the entire night. They weren’t center stage, they never “the act” of the night. The just played in the corner all night.
But the reason everyone loved it is because they are incredible musicians. They played a Waite range of contemporary music to jazz to pop to rock. But they put their unique flairs to song and it was just beautiful. By the end if the night guest were humming or signing a lot with the songs they knew. It really made for an amazing birthday for my wife.

I am about to tell you about the best day of my life. I am very skeptical and I am always on the look out for being let down or scammed. I admit, I have trust issues. My wife and I had planned on having a huge wedding on 8-8-2020. We had everything planned, string quartet, dj, venue, food, family, but nothing could prepare us for the pandemic that we are all dealing with. My father has taken a turn for the worse and we are enjoying as much time as possible with him as long as he is with us. The need to get married in the church was important for us and we wanted my father to be there. We planned with the church to have a small ceremony with approximately 20 people. We skipped on all the festivities and activities that come with a normal wedding as normal no longer exists for us. This week was a whirlwind and I decided I had to do something to make this day special as we sacrifice so much for our day. I sent out a request on GIG salad for a guitarist. Many offered but Gabriel was unique, he offered to play for our wedding with only 3 days to prepare. His offer was much lower than others and I asked him why, not because I thought he wasnt deserving of it, his reviews were awesome and I did a thorough review for others experiences. His communication and his videos of his performance were amazing. Something was off and I wanted to know more. The more I tried to find a flaw, the more I heard more of his music. He was professional, not professional as a corporation, but professional at his talent and the way he played his music. We settled on a price, (I offered him more than what he wanted), and I proceeded to accidentally become a difficult customer. I had a vision of how I wanted him to play exactly 3 music pieces and I wanted it to be special. I gave him specific instructions that I wanted everyone to cry, because thats how I feel every time I see my beautiful wife. I wish I could share the email because it was lengthy and precise with details down to the minutes and seconds (I am embarrassed about this). Gabriel showed up on our wedding day and within 10 minutes he was set up and ready to proceed. I gave him the artistic freedom to play classical guitar wedding hymns for the prelude which he did flawlessly. His style was very technical and classical. Once the procession was starting, as cued, he played 2 songs beautifully. The brides processional was an acoustic version of Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. I shook as he played the song we first danced to and when I first looked into my wife's eyes and fell in love. I remember every detail of how she looked. I remember standing at the alter as he timed the song perfectly being the happiest I ever have been. The rest of our wedding had traditional pipe organ playing but Gabriel was outside for the prelude, playing exactly in time with the organ, welcoming all of our 20 guests outside the church. We asked him if he had a ukulele, he played a guitar in such a way that we could not tell the difference. Everyone has told us that although small, our wedding was beautiful and meaningful. Gabriel is a talented human being, he has a gift and I wish him much success. I wish everyone can feel the way I do thinking back to how great it is to know that people like him exist.
