Classical pianist based on San Diego CA and ABQ NM. Chamber and vocal music, solo piano. I play recitals, lessons, rehearsals, juries, competitions, masterclasses, Suzuki studios (any level), church services and events, wedding ceremonies, ambient soundtrack (classical) for events, the works. Comfortable playing with conductors in orchestral contexts (in the pit and above it) and in smaller ensembles and vocal repertoire (working with choirs or as repetiteur).
We will probably ask Gabriel to come back in the future.
Gabriel played piano for my residents at a senior living community in the city of Carlsbad. The members want to compliment his originality, his touch, and his interpretation. They’ve expressed deep appreciation for his individuality.
Response from Gabriel Longuinhos, Pianist:
Thank you so much!
Gabriel has been a pianist for my primarily all-violin studio for 6 years during which he’s taken a young 9 year old pianist under his wings as she performed accompaniment for my violin students. The Suzuki arrangements are a beast and Gabriel has become apart of our family, my students look forward to his participation on our recitals! Gabriel is dependable, easy to work with Re: logistics and can fit through hours of playing a wide variety of difficulty levels for my kids, who feel very comfortable around him and are always excited to play alongside a professional. Gabriel works hard, practices all the time for his gigs and stays in touch! Can’t think of a better combination for whatever gif you throw at him.
Gabriel has worked with my son and several other young musicians in New Mexico, and I can't say enough about what a fabulous pianist and musician he is! While he was living in Albuquerque, he was the most sought-after piano accompanist for all the string competitions organized by various musical entities such as the Albuquerque Youth Symphony and the Jackie McGehee Young Artists organization. My son Camilo, a cellist, worked with Gabriel preparing for two of these competitions and the audition videos for his applications to music colleges and conservatories. Our experience was really great. Gabriel collaborated with our son, made suggestions to improve, was very patient and supportive during rehearsals, created recordings of his parts so that my son could rehearse on his own and was extremely professional during rehearsal and performances. My son ended up being the winner in both of the competitions he participated with Gabriel accompanying him on the piano. Several other talented young musicians that I know personally also worked with Gabriel, and I have to say that for many years all the young string musicians that ended up winning the competitions had one thing in common apart of being very talented and that was working with Gabriel.
Gabriel accompanied choir and soloists at our church, beginning before the pandemic. His playing is elegant and expressive, very responsive to his musical partners. He's also highly reliable and great to work with.
Gabriel is a fantastic collaborative artist, who is highly skilled, professional, and easy to work with. His professionalism extends throughout all aspects of the collaborative and artistic processes. I’ve worked with him a number of times for a variety of events and he’s been awesome to work with every time.
I had Gabriel Longuinhos accompany my students in recital and he played for me when I did a series of school concerts showcasing some Debussy pieces. He did an excellent job for both things, and I recommend him unreservedly for anything you may require. He stays with the player, no matter what!

I am a passionate and lively pianist! I'm at a place of great ease and spontaneity with classical music, and always have a ton of fun when I play. I listen like a hawk and feel inner rhythm with a lot of clarity, and so can make for a great chamber partner. I seem to have a particularly great time collaborating with young musicians in the process of achieving ease at their instrument (chops/technique) who are already in love with the thing and deeply yearn for heartfelt and clear musical expression. I enjoy working very thoroughly and extensively on things (big fan of slow metronome playing during rehearsal - works miracles). I am very open to exchanging feedback and musical suggestions during rehearsal, and always strive to be conscious of my partners' comfort and ease.
Though I don't often dwell in solo piano repertoire these days, I do keep some Chopin and similar pieces within reach for church services and such. I am happy to discuss solo performances, and also offer 'background' classical music for any events.
I am originally from Brazil. I went to music school at the University of Campinas, where I spent six years under the guidance of renowned Brazilian pianist Maria José Carrasqueira, and earned a B.A. in classical piano performance. In 2013 I moved to Albuquerque to study with Juilliard alumna Pamela Pyle, who played in the studio of legendary violin pedagogue Dorothy DeLay for over a decade. After graduating with a M.M. and a graduate certificate from the University of New Mexico, I moved to San Diego CA, where I freelance and teach. In 2021 I also joined Robyn Avalon's Contemporary Alexander School training program, to explore Alexander technique and its crazy potential. My main passions are playing music with others, hiking in urban areas and becoming fascinated with fire escapes on the sides of buildings, cooking to some extent, and I also have a soft spot for metaphysics/spirituality/woowoo that I'm attempting to explore with dispassionate curiosity.
