When you invite Gambit to perform, you're not just getting a concert; you're immersing your event in an experience that's tailored to engage, entertain, and resonate with every attendee. Our performances cater to audiences of all sizes, from intimate gatherings to grand celebrations. For larger crowds, we utilize a specific microphone setup that best captures the essence of barbershop harmony, preferring crossed microphones to ensure our voices blend perfectly, though we're adaptable to any setup provided.
Our shows are crafted to be dynamic and interactive. Typically, we kick off with a couple of songs to set the mood, followed by a brief introduction of our quartet. This isn't just about singing; it's about creating a connection. We interact with the audience, share stories, and, depending on the event's tone, sprinkle in humor to keep the atmosphere light and engaging. Each performance is a careful balance of music and interaction, designed to complement the event's theme and energy.
Our repertoire is diverse, offering everything from classic barbershop to arrangements with a modern twist. The music is carefully selected to ensure every piece is as enjoyable to listen to as it is for us to perform. Moreover, we love involving the audience in our passion for singing. For those intrigued by the art of barbershop or simply looking for a memorable group activity, in a short amount of time attendees can learn a part of a song to sing along with us or as a group!
Booking Gambit means choosing a unique blend of entertainment that's both sophisticated and fun. We're dedicated to making your event unforgettable by matching its needs and exceeding expectations. Whether you're hosting a corporate function, a wedding, or any celebration in between, Gambit promises a performance that's as memorable as the occasion itself.
Gambit is a spirited barbershop quartet rooted in the vibrant music scene of Nashville, Tennessee. Formed in early 2023, we quickly found a common passion for not just barbershop music but for a modern twist on the classic harmonies that have defined the genre. Our group consists of Luke Miller (Tenor), Aaron Evens (Lead), Ben Raja (Bari), and Adam Scott (Bass), each bringing a unique musical background and a shared love for vocal harmony.
From the start, our goal was to blend traditional barbershop techniques with elements of jazz, pop, and soul, creating a sound that's both familiar and fresh. This approach has not only defined our musical style but has also guided our repertoire, which ranges from classic standards to contemporary arrangements, all marked by our signature blend of tight harmonies and energetic performance.
Beyond the music, Gambit is about connection. We've seen firsthand the power of music to bring people together, to turn a moment into a memory, and to transform an event into an experience. Whether it's a wedding, a corporate event, or a community concert, we aim to leave our audiences not just entertained but moved.
In our first year, we've been honored to perform at venues across Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky, each time bringing our love for music and performance to the stage. We're continually inspired by the stories and people we encounter, and it's this inspiration that fuels our pursuit of musical excellence.
As we look to the future, Gambit is excited to explore new musical territories, to deepen our connection with audiences, and to continue sharing our passion for barbershop music with the world. Our journey is just beginning, and we're thrilled to see where this harmony will lead us.
Our performances are designed to be versatile and adaptable to a variety of settings, ensuring that we can deliver the highest quality barbershop harmony experience regardless of the venue. However, to ensure the best possible performance, there are a few technical requirements we ask to be in place:
Sound:
For larger venues or audiences exceeding 50 people, we require a sound system with at least two microphones. Our preferred setup is with crossed microphones to capture the blend of our harmonies accurately. Handheld microphones can be used but are not preferred due to the potential for an uneven mix of voices. If a sound system is provided, a sound check prior to the performance is appreciated to adjust levels and ensure clarity.
For smaller, more intimate settings, no amplification may be necessary, but this can be assessed based on the specific venue acoustics.
Lighting:
Adequate stage lighting is required for evening or indoor performances to ensure visibility. Natural lighting is sufficient for daytime or outdoor events.
Stage/Space:
A clear performance area measuring at least 10x10 feet to accommodate the movement and positioning of our quartet.
Accessibility:
Access to the performance area for setup and soundcheck at least 1 hour before the event start time. Depending on the event we may not need it (like a surprise birthday for a small group).
A nearby parking space for loading and unloading equipment if needed.
Environment:
A dressing room or private area for pre-performance preparation and vocal warm-ups is ideal, though not mandatory.
Miscellaneous:
If the event is outdoors, a plan for inclement weather should be in place, whether it's an alternate indoor location or suitable cover to protect equipment and performers.
We strive to make our performances memorable and enjoyable for everyone involved, and accommodating these technical requirements helps us ensure a seamless and professional show. If there are any questions or specific needs for your event, we're more than willing to discuss and adapt to make your experience with Gambit as smooth as possible.
