Continue to go with his father and Price on many trips learning the business and making new friends such as Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Ray Benson, Kris Kristopherson, and many more. Between his 10th and 11th grade year in high school, he began to put his band together, Gary Jones & The Silver Spurs. He started to play shows and open jams. While playing a show at a club called "Dooleys Sports Grill in Mineola, TX, he was introduced to Columbia Recording artist Pitty Pat Guidry. Pitty Pat decided to take Gary under his wing and became his mentor in the music business. Never straying away from his traditional country roots and never taking no for an answer.
