I have been a full time pianist, piano teacher, composer for my whole career. My training is in classical piano but I am a very versatile pianist and can also play pop, standards, and some light jazz based on your needs and desires. I am new as a paying customer to this site have only had 5 star reviews on a comparable site.

Gary was great for providing holiday background music at our cocktail party! He was professional and an accomplished piano player. He worked with us to connect his digital piano to our house sound system too so that guests could enjoy his music throughout the hone.
We needed a pianist at the last moment and Gary arrived with a very polite introduction, an openness to what we wanted at our wedding, and extraordinary musical talent I listened to on YouTube before the wedding. Our guests mentioned how great he was, too! Very happy he was our pianist.

We couldn’t be more pleased with Gary’s performance playing for our daughter’s wedding. Our music for the ceremony was a bit non-traditional and he played it flawlessly. Though Gary is classical pianist, he can play anything. We gave him free rein on song selection during the cocktail hour and dinner and he did not disappoint. We loved everything he played. It was especially helpful that he was willing and able to accommodate us by attending the rehearsal on Friday. In addition to being a consummate musician, he is also a gentleman. Gary was a pleasure to work with, and we highly recommend him for any type of event from casual to formal.
Gary was indeed a terrific addition to our daughter's wedding. He is such an accomplished musician and so great to work with. He was available for the rehearsal the day before and did an excellent job with ceremony pieces as well as his chosen pieces for the cocktail hour and dinner music. You can expect from me a first rate professional musical experience. I like to mix up my pieces so usually I like to do a blend of popular classics (that everyone loves), pop, standards, and some light jazz as well as even a bit of my own music. I am sensitive to the needs and demographics of the audience so can and will customize the experience in order to please your audience as much as possible.
I decided at the ripe old of age of six that I was going to be a pianist when I grew up! I was born and raised north of Montreal. Because we lived way out in the country I had no access to a teacher so was a self-taught pianist until I entered college. I then completed a Bachelor in Piano Performance at Tyndale College in Toronto and then a degree in piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto as well. Since then I have been a full time pianist musician. I have been fortunate to have performed in Canada, the U.S. Europe, and Mexico. I have released two Cd's of my original music called Sacred Spaces and was invited to Carnegie hall to perform of my music for a Show Case concert.
Last year I was invited by Will Ackerman, (the grammy awarding winning founder of Windham Hill) records to record an album at his Imaginary Road Studios. I composed the music and released the CD in June of 2016. Happy to report it has done well. Was in the top ten in Europe on One World Radio for 3 months straight and went on to win Album of the Year award in Europe. The recording is called Landscapes of the Heart and can be heard on my website, Youtube, Spotify, and Pandora (Gary Schmidt Radio Station). As I am a solo pianist my needs are very simple. I do prefer a tuned piano of course! I do have my own portable keyboard system that I can bring if it is needed.
