Like you, self awareness expert and social commentator and educator Gerald Palmer has seen the word and concept of tolerance be replaced by the word and concept of acceptance. Likewise our concept of America as a melting pot has been replaced by the concept of cultural pluralism. As we as a society adjust to these changes, organizations have struggled with how to address (or even address) the changes. Do we strive for workplaces and organizations to become beacons of cultural pluralism? Do we address spirituality in the workplace? Do we leave morale up to the individual organization member? Do we continue to promote tolerance? Addressing issues like cultural pluralism and acceptance as well as spirituality in the workplace will only cause division? Or, is there a different story?

With over a decade of social activism, teaching, speaking, and most importantly, real-life, in-the-trenches self awareness training experience, his view is radically different. Gerald appreciates, and shares with listeners, that being aware of our personal values and beliefs and how they impact us in the workplace and beyond is one of the most important elements in our social DNA.

Gerald, sometimes referred to as the “Stirrer” for his ability to stir up a group or as the “Listener” for his active listening skills that brings out the best in people. Known for his practical, straight to the point style; Gerald's fusion of real-life stories and his conversational techniques connect with his audience at an intimate, intense and individual level. As a licensed and ordained minister, Gerald believes in honoring the religious and non-religious beliefs of others and if asked will incorporate this into his message.

Prior to his self awareness education efforts, Gerald, a social worker by education and passion, has served others as an HIV/AIDS educator and case manager, a homeless case manager, in higher education in student services and teaching, and as an activist, writer and radio talk show host. Through his advocacy Gerald has addressed issues such as homophobia, racism, sexism and poverty.

Along with managing the many hats that we wear, Gerald believes and teaches that we must also spend time with a hobby for rejuvenation of self. As an avid music lover Gerald pursues his passion for music by entertaining others as a mobile DJ.
