That’s “gray” with an “a”. As a matter of jazz, GMoJ is a quartet with a deep song list of retro, redux, and “hey, I like that song. I haven’t heard it in years!" We have tunes to entertain your club, party, get-together or any special event. We are playing songs that risk being lost to time -- particularly Spyro Gyra, Steely Dan, Earth Wind and Fire, and more -- all with our own jazzy twist!
My eight-year-old daughter and I saw them at a local venue in town, and it was a treat! They are an engaging group that all will enjoy—I look forward to seeing them play again soon.
I had the pleasure of seeing this group perform, and they were absolutely phenomenal. Their chemistry on stage was electric, with each member effortlessly weaving intricate solos and harmonies that kept the energy high throughout the entire performance. It was clear that they were not only incredibly skilled but also genuinely passionate about their craft. I left feeling inspired and energized—definitely a band I can’t recommend enough!
Gray Matter is a great group of friends who give so much of their spare time to practicing and performing jazz music at many venues in my area. I have followed them for years and love their music. The talent not only vocally, but instrumental is exceptional. I would highly recommend them! 🎺

Wonderful jazz musicians! They played at one of my work events and the music was so fun and energetic. It created a lively atmosphere and really set the tone for the whole evening. Everyone had a great time, the song choices were perfect, and it was so fun to watch them play. Hire them and add a little jazz to your next event!
These guys know Jazz and they love to have fun with it. Have seen them a few times and they inspire with a fire and rhythm that wreaks of heart and soul. Love listening to them. They play old favorites as well as new originals. Love their sensical approach to music and their unique ability to create a “take me away” feeling.

Gray Matter of Jazz played at our private birthday party. They played a variety of songs with a smooth jazz touch. They were very conscientious of our home with the volume of their music. I was fortunate to have an opportunity to perform on same stage with both Ger (🎷) and Greg 🎹. Gerry is very welcoming and passionate regarding his playing. Regarding Greg, this review is character limited so I would run out of space. I’ll just say this, Greg is one of the MOST HUMBLING QUALITY KEYBOARDIST in the Chicagoland AREA!!! He is always blending in with his melodious playing, his solos are ON POINT and he easily adapts to changing conditions on stage. Greg is WAY BETTER than he actually gives himself credit for. This is what makes him TRULY SPECIAL and TALENTED💪🏾🎹🙏🏽

I have seen Grey Matter of Jazz playing poolside and in the Lounge this past year at Lifetime in Lake Zurich several times beginning with Memorial Day weekend. They are consistently excellent, playing listenable jazz that fits every event beautifully. I booked them for a party this coming spring at my house. They are totally professional and easy to work with!
Gray matter of jazz played for our engagement party and they were the talk of the event. The group was just lovely, the music was wonderful, and the vibes were fantastic.
