Great Wide Open

GWO brings an experience very similar to being at a live Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers concert. Die-hard Tom Petty fans, or even those who are casually aware of Tom Petty's music will likely recognize most every song, and will often sing along with each one.

Concert format is preferred; show length typically being 90-120 minutes, allowing for one 10-minute (2 song) encore performance. For a multi-set format, show length is typically two 50-minute sets, with a 15-20 minute intermission, plus encore.

The show is designed to be experienced by the audience, not just heard. Accordingly, GWO is suited to center-stage concerts or other venues where the show is scheduled as the focal point for the audience.

The appearance of GWO is very much in keeping with the original band on stage, however no wigs are involved!

Great Wide Open was formed out of a passion for Tom Petty's music and the drive to work out every detail to recreate the sound of his original hits in an invigorating live show.

The focus of each performance is to pull the audience in and keep them entertained, while playing the instantly recognizable songs of Tom Petty. In turn, we feed off of the energy of the crowd, putting on a unique show that the audience won't soon forget!

GWO provides and manages our own IEM system and splitter with individual direct outputs to FOH. While the venue typically provides and manages FOH sound and any necessary lighting, GWO can also contract-out and manage these services in most environments.

Please allow a minimum of 2 hours for load-in and set-up, followed by a line/sound check scheduled at least 45 minutes before doors open. Downbeat can be anytime after 30 minutes from sound check completion.

Opening act(s), if desired, are typically provided by the venue. However, GWO has worked with several other tribute bands and can, at times, assist with arranging a suitable opener, if needed.
